i think he'lll probably be back bitch one.
decadnids - who reads guides for making music? well the klf think we should, what with their classic 'how to have a hit single' book.
and mh's thing is more like his philosophy of music making innit...i guess pille only mentioned it because gunjack HAd written that phil had ripped off radioboy...which he didnt, its clearly cassetteboy. and i dont think they mind that much.

did you hear about bill drummonds latest stunt? he was on radio 4. he's cut up a picture worth 20 grand into 20,000 bits that he's selling for a dollar each. quite funny.

Emma - true the KLF did write the manual, but that was more to do with how to deal with the music industry and to rip the fuckers off (a good read to). and not really a manual on making musick in the creative sense of the word (as it says stuff in the manual like "get the sound engineers to do most of the stuff, and make them cups of tea as they know what they are doing....).

30th April 2003, 13:31
'get the sound engineers to do most of the stuff'
now THATS the style of music making i want to get into. i want to sit in a corner of a studio nodding occasionally while nerdy types do all the work.

hey
I've been reading the forum for a while, but haven't felt the need to contribute until now...
I downloaded phil's track, and listened ... I feel he's 'onto something here'
there's an unique quality to his voice, it's tone, and pitch. i also feel there's nothing else being produced in the rap/hop arena which sounds like phil.
I hope no-one will be offended by me making what I hope is a constructive criticism: phil needs to slow a little and annunciate..the message is getting lost lost with the speed and quantity of words.
i truly believe some pranayama/breath control would provide the key to this. chi gung also, due to it's active whole-body use of breath. I feel if phil plays with his breath-force, he will sound clearer in the recording studio. Even though this version sounds home-produced, I can see that with some refinements on both machine and human side, it's a good 'un.

i have 1 dj boom record - also one with 'the singles club' or something written on it which i suspect may be herbert, tho i don't know, but it's the best wonky techno-esque thing he's done, it rocks.
i thought that was the fookin' Streets.
he likes the word cunt alot, doesn't eh.

That Frank Skinner guy?
'oh my god he said rizla!...'
good brit hiphopalbum ? he had a pop album with spoken word rapping on it!
good brit hiphopalbum ? Roots Manuva's Run Come Save Me is more like it!

the streets...hahaha. darling of the (no-)style mags, i'm sure.
i take the vastly superior Pitman's stance on this one - just like the streets who talks like a cockney - aren't ya from Birmingham, ya knob? what street ya from, coronation street?

3rd May 2003, 15:00
who are jehst??
pitman works for ninja tune. enough said.
jehst is a rapper. fucking decent.
i heard this work for 'ninjatune' thing too
maybe we should ask Jamyna , he told me that he will son be signed to ninjatune
wheezer
3rd May 2003, 19:11
I saw a ninjatune 10" at a local store last week that had the same pic jamyna used for an avatar around here for a while on the back btw...
Lady E
4th May 2003, 01:02
pest are on ninja tune...but not so shit surely? big dada isninja tune label, good stuff on there right?
so jehst is decent but where does he ply his trade p?
both ninjatune and big dada are decent in my eyes...
got the XEN 10 aniverserry triple cd book with is great.
the problem with ninja tune is that alot of thier old stuff sound just Too alike, triphopish basic beats.. some of the rare collabs with Saul Williams are amazing, and other decent adventures in sound such as Amon Tobin & Roots Manuva collabs
