I luv Nile Rogers. Seems like 3 or 4 of my favourite tracks these days are by him. Trying to learn to play guitar like him but I'll be old before I do :(
Here's some of my favourites...
From Land of the Good Groove, a really stinky funk album and this is my favourite track about getting all dirty (thanks fanto!)

Chic - Want your Love (KDJ and todd terje versions are great too)
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vKjDMFpilKU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vKjDMFpilKU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Diana Ross - Upside Down AND Tenderness which is even better (a nile rogers production, as is I'm comin out!)

The original and especially the Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards Mix of Sister Sledge - Lost in Music is bloody brilliant too. Thinking of You ain't half bad either.
Must see if he's coming to Manchester this tour, though I'm not sure what he's like now? Anyone going to the gig in scotland?

what your going to will probably be better though :)
although he's not touring for lack of money, with royalties from the madonna, david bowie, diana ross, chic etc... productions. so it could be really good.

ha ha :) Was that nile rogers too?
Watched it without audio and first thought it was a piss-take, then a transexual until I lip-read the words:
"WHY...DOES...YOUR...LOVE...HRR RT...SO...BAD!"
great song...another one that's always played around these parts :)
Between that, yum-yum and I'm Coming Out he's got sleezy covered.

i've been listening to roxy music a lot these past few weeks too. i wouldn't have thought they were an influence. oth they both have that crisp clear, clean, biting sound, and a whole stink of funk smell.
same way, i was a bit dissappointed to read that byrne produced B-52's mesopotamia and not rodgers. but again, it's that kind of sound too. and a love talking heads more than roxy music.

yeah it was produced by rogers and bernard edwards. great track.
that video is fucking hilariously bad though, looks like they knocked it up during lunch.
anyone remember this?

I thought it was more in terms of image than music that they were influenced - the sharp suits and all that... and that was more Bernard's thing than Niles's...

to quote Nile "Scotland is a funky place. People wept during the show"
what a compliment for Scotland! being called funky by one of the worlds great funkmasters! mind you with the recent binman strikes it could certainly be called funky in another way
anyway i'm gonna shut up about him now cos i'm feeling a bit erm obsessive about it, just wish he would accept my friends request on faceboak haha
