It looks like a standard hollywood mash up of Solaris and 2001 with some bog standard thriller thrown in. Actually mash up is far too kind, it's just a total rip off of Solaris.

sorry :) This film is a like a red rag to a bull for me. Although I actually thought the Solaris re-make wasn't that bad, just very lightweight.

well the original, like all the best films - especially tarkovsky, tends to split people straight down the middle, they either think it's amazing or really boring.

basically Solaris is the Russian 2001 in pretty much every sense. It's a lot more in some ways and a lot less in others. They are basically my favourite films though.

The fucking HAL rip of with smiley fucking emote face and fucking kevin spacey is wack as fuck.

I divide watching movies into 3 main Categories:

1. This has to be seen at the movies!
2. I can wait till it comes out on DVD and watch it on netflix
3. I'll wait till it comes out on basic cable and when on a day that I'm super bored, with nothing to do and it comes on, I'll watch it.



This movie falls into category 2.

Yes it was...the special effects were amazing to me..
and I really enjoyed seeing my youth come alive on screen.

I knew going in that I wasn't gonna find alot of meaningful (as you say chin waggin) content...but lots of effects of my childhood anime cartoon come to life...SO yes....
it was in the 1st category for that reason..

btw: I will however add that I fucking HATED every scene Megan Fox was in. There was no reason for her to be in the movie other than to pout her collegen filled lips into the screen and supposedly look sexy..which she also failed at....rant over n out..
