I've just been listening to the new RZA album which has collaborations with loads of international MCs and producers, especially German ones like Fuat, Bektas & Germ, Xavier Naidoo, Afrob & Saikou ...
Hip Hop is really big in Germany, isn't it? Are there any more cool German acts I should know about? Is there like a big underground/mainstream split? Etc?

....and he isn´t that cool! i don´t know, german hiphop is quite boring to me.
but i like Tobi & BO in Fünf Sterne Deluxe and Blumentopf. They have really true, funny and intelligent lyrics.
MC Rene also rocks.
I know some guys over here who make really nice freestyle actions on house (not music) parties everytime.
They also starting up a studio some time and rocking.
They are called SM DOS

Lyric-wise I always found "Kinderzimmer Productions" the best.

I gotta agree with aleks about German hiphop having its moments - for example, I quite like Eins Zwo's "Hand aufs Herz" but then there's like two-three albums worth of crap they've produced.
I was introduced to one half of the Stieber twins last new years by my sister - have to say that those guys are fucking cool!

It's so good to read such beauty on a page.
I myself was in Germany once but that was a longtime before hip hop.
It's good to see that there is such a wealth of talent on the German scene though as for years it was all just dull techno but now there is a pumping scene that incorporates all types of art and music and all types of people loving each other and being safety nets for one another. It's just so positive and fab!!!

actually AnneFrankingMaschine, methinks that you forget several quality or unique musicians such as stockhausen, triumvirat, can, kraftwerk, kruder & dormeister, yello, mom, beethoven, etc...
(not all native german, but nativ german speakers)

Oh i apologise invisible planek. Very sorry.
I'm not very up to date with the scene you see.
i've only just got a computer and i feel i'm a long way behind people like you when it comes to technology. Still i'm learning as fast as i can!
Super!
I'd love to hear some of the bands that you mention they sound groovy!
Could you send me a record of them?

anne, I would love to, but I don't lend records anymore.
what I can do, is give u pointers to where u might be able to download and listen to these artistes on the internet.
it will take me a little time to prepare the links for you, but i don't mind to share infos at all.

yes, have to confirm that. we live in the same small city, so everybody knowes everybody. if they only would release another album... some years ago they produced a beat-ep ("twin plastic" on 800trak) together with d-man who did the hd800 club and the technolabel 800trak, so there´s connection to the techno-scene aswell. stieber twins also had "redagain p" do a remix for them and he comes more from the miami bass and elektro area.
an concerning dendemann: saw him live, was great. talked to him, cool guy really. and his texts are some of the best, german hiphop has to offer.
al contrario, i saw kool savas live and it was just bad macho-shit.
