Hello all!
Name is Chris aka BigBadBaldy, hailing from Toronto. Just wanted to throw a general hello out there, as I'm sure I'll be hanging around here a bit.
I'm a professional chef (if currently unemployed by choice :D ), and an just-starting-out producer with an Audio Engineering training background.
Hope to be getting some good production tips.. I've seen some good stuff here already.
Anyway, HOWDY!
BBB.

herzlich wiLLkommen großer böser ???? ähm..chris
:illin:
Quick! Tie him down and shave all his ass hairs!
Feel the love, Chris, feel the love....
Actually, Chris is just a really, super-duper, swell, terrific son-of-a-gun that I know here in the Tdot (slang for 'Toronto' all you foreign types). He knows his shit musically and can cut a rug on the dancefloor like no one's bizznizz.
...So let's leave him with at least a little mohawk.

What pretell is the techno scene like in Toronto?
Notable dignitaries include:
Kenny Glasgow (Most Wanted, Turbo Recordings)
Algorithm (Force Inc., owner of Revolver)
Mike Shannon (Force Inc., owner of Cynosure Recordings)
Thomas Jirku (Force Inc.)
Jeremy Caulfield (owner of Dumb-Unit Recordings)
Jacob Fairley (Dumb-Unit)
Adam Marshall (owner of Killer Records)
Adam Winick & Vortex (owners of Format recordings)
Dan Lui (owner of Chair Recordings)
Dave Cooper (Owner of Roundtable Distribution)
Matt & Mark Thibideau (Blue Recordings)
Paul Walker (Most Wanted, Easter Bloc Records)
...and the soon to be famous on the gay party circuit, The Dukes.
(kidding!)
Toronto's scene is INCREDIBLY diverse. Practically ALL forms of electronic music are represented here in some way. As far as the techno community goes, we've been through our 'banging 4/4' phase and through our 'chin-stroking-techno-elitist' stage. While not drawing 10,000 person crowds every weekend anymore, it's currently in a state of regrowth and evolution. Toronto is very critical of ALL who come through here - they are generally well educated as to the workings of djing equipment and really demand not only track selection but technical prowess as well. Live PA's are starting to become a more frequent ordeal as well.
There's probably volumes i could write about my personal feelings on the city, but I won't go into too much detail....
Toronto is a fantastic place with incredibly wicked people, but I just wish the greenhouse effect would kick in sooner and turn it into a tropical paradise. I'd never want to leave then!
I'm not a winter kind of guy.
