ever get those spurts of great ideas that you know you will lose by the end of the day? i've got (what i think is) an amazing song stuck in my head and have no way to get it out or record the melody. it will be gone in hours. it's a sad feeling. it doesn't help that my co-workers are listening to shit like shania twain and shakira (please someone kill me). if i only had my handy minidisc recorder i could maybe save some of those fleeting thoughts....

i guess i could record onto my computer here... but there's no mic available and it would be handier just to have my minidisc recorder to do that. and i guess i should just stop smoking so much... nah, it's easier just to bring a MD recorder!

*i should just stop smoking so much*
i don't think that helps........i stopped smoking so much and nothing is better so far lol

btw the easiest way is not allways the best (a teacher would say...)..hehehe

have the same problem, especialy when i'm going to sleep. it's a time when the coolest ideas are born, and i'm ussualy to tired to turn on the computer...

time to develop a USB port for my brain. that would solve EVERYTHING.

hehe. thought about this before but windows has a problem with brain drivers...
and there is a danger of a brain-hang...

i carry a microcassette pocket recorder around with me and record babbling drug conversations, monologues, traffic noise, acapella techno tracks, whatever. its instant comedy. when you get an idea, just press record. the sound quality is really shitty but that gives it its own unique quality, like a sketch on a napkin.

yes, it´s wounderful to record things.

but i do have the same problem as moorekk. always at night/bedtime the ideas pop up and i´m to tierd to turn on the computher again.

@piscaries: you know you could always call your house and leave yourself a message of what you were thinking. or sing the melody or the sound you are thinking of. I remember watching some tv special on vh-1 and they were interviewing tommy lee from motley crue, and that is what he did when he was jail for a few months. he would just call up his house and leave himself messages so when he got out he had all his ideas waiting for him. which subsequently turned out to be his methods of mayhem album.
I thought that was kind of niffty.

i was doing that but now i have two roommates who regularly delete my messages without telling me.. so that idea's out the window till i get a cell phone. a few years ago when i had a cel phone i was doing that... it was goofy but it worked.

jukka: you might have a point there... but, wait.. öhm. you´re probably right.... still, i get things done during the days, nights before i get to bed.

i blame hawaii 5-0 at the moment. it´s the shit that makes me lay down in my bed and after that i can´t manages to get up again.

nice story, sheridan. if thats true that would be really cool. btw do you still have vh-1 in the us? we here have another popchannel instead of this nice lil thing, where they showed sometimes such cool things from the lost age, hach....

I believe the story to be totally true. during the story they had footage of some of the messages he had kept. it was pretty funny hearing tommy lee trying to sing a melody for a song. he is a much better drummer.:D
as for vh-1 yes we still have it. as far as music television is concerned vh-1 is the only music tv channel I watch. they have a lot of really cool shows that aren't as low brow as the ones on mtv.
I find it really funny since I grew up watching mtv and I always thought that vh-1 was for old people. and now I can't stand mtv becasue it is for younger people. growing up is an interesting thing.

We are going to play around with some of the sounds... but- Seeing as we were absolutely slaughtered by Philly last night- I am going to have to ban the word/thought of/soundeffectsfrom hockey in general for a while...

indeed. a shame that we have instead of vh-1 now "mtv2 pop" ->there you hear all the bad music from the nineties you never wanted to hear again. its so grap i cant believe that theyre thinking that theres a market for one more of these channels (we have with this one now 4 of that..)

Sheridan

there is huge market for anything retro.
I think a lot of people have a hard time looking to the future so they like to live in the past. I myself don't mind seeing a video or two from my teen years. like if I get to see nirvana's come as you are video I think cool. but I don't need it everyday. I would much rather see videos of new up and coming artists.
my motto: just because it was cool then doesn't make it cool now.

sheridans right on
the retro 80's thang and retro anything pop or pop culture in america is being played out from the 'how they made it' to 'how they broke it' to 'how they killed someone or themselves or a bandmate or thier fans' and all the collectors items that go with it. the real joke in that, is that theyve run out of real entertainment and are using people and events that are totally bullshit.

some of its comedy, but most of its gross. and mtv, vh1, bet and the whole lot have got like a hundred channels between them doing all sorts of throw back throwing back shows and its just fucking retarded. like the "i love the 80s"... they could have abridged the fuck out of that. i call it the MadonnaSyndrome. which is gonna be the Jennifer Lopez Syndrome of the future. fucking flashdance rip off video to the tooth... shamed.

hitchcock said it best.

on a positive note, the white stripes play the conan show all week this week.

man when I saw that jennifer lopez video doing the reenactment from flashdance I wanted to throw up. that there is a perfect example of what I was talking about. utter recycled garbage.
it seems as if people's general creativity has just stopped working.
