altho it's really-really heavy conspiracy and it left me wanting to commit suicide afterwards...but other than that...I enjoyed listening...

You can hear this sort of chat on pirate stations across London any day of the week. It's enjoyable, but very silly.

it's freaking depressing is what it is...
it's one thing to know that we are just a bunch of pawns, it's quite another to have to listen to it being layed out in specific detail...

Yeah it's complete bollocks, though.
As individuals we have very little power, and there is an economic system that is not geared around individuals interests - but this idea that there is a special secret hidden man behind the curtain controlling it all is just people looking for an easy answer when there is none.
It's like saying "that tree's roots are damaging my house - there must be a little man inside the tree controlling it and making it hurt me!!!"

I think that there are very rich people/corporations that have a lot to do with (as in influence) the kind of policy that is being passed and how it affects their pockets and their ability to control what goes in and out of their pockets...
without regard to how it affects individual people...
I do think they exert a lot of power over governments and don't feel that anything will ever change that...

Init.
The lizard people thing is the most extreme and ludicrous example of a theory that says the powerful/rich are actually all aliens/lizardmen who control the world from a secret bunker. Shorthand for "a conspiracy theory so daft that only the mentally ill could believe it".

So... there are people who occupy positions of influence within the structures of power? People who could feasibly change things for the better if they wanted, but choose not to?

Seriously, I'm just asking for clarification. There's an awful lot of slightly vague talk about conspiracies and control on this forum, and I'm keen to find out how people really think this all works.

The big L in penciLneck has just taken on a much more sinister meaning than the simple stylistic choice - a sort of kooky, off-kilter camelCase - that I originally thought it was.

or rather; for the better in their estimation would be what's better to their pockets or simply for maintaining power which goes back to their pockets..both are very much linked together in my opinion..

No no, I think all that is quite right. But it's another step from that to believing what Alex Jones is saying, which is that there is a secret global organisation of these people who actually plot to keep things the way they are.

I don't think I should.
When I read your post I was automatically thinking of lobbyists and special interest groups and think tanks who really have a major sway over legislation. At least in America.
I don't think there is a secret shadow government with Svengali vibes going on. But I do know for a fact that the elected officials in this country have less to do with policy making then they ever have before. Think tanks and special interest groups actually sit and come up with a specific topic and break it down to an agenda and actually come up with the rough drafts of legislation they would like to see introduced and passed in Congress. These groups have ties with elected officials and try to strike a mutual accord with politicians to actually initiate legislation in Congress. Many times the kinds of legislation trying to get passed only benefits like minded individuals or class of people.

It's easy to believe that government is more corrupt now than in the past, but could that not be just because we have more media, we have more transparency, and thus we have more awareness of the mechanisms? In the past, the corruption was completely shameless, and it was done behind closed doors in the drawing rooms of the artistocracy over a glass of port. Now it's done by companies and consultants in boardrooms...

It's the same thing to me...
first, it's a tight knit group of people who are organized in what they do(so it would be an organization)...(how big or small...i can't say, but if related to the rest of the people in the world, it's small) - there is no way a person of power can make money when the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing..
so there in is the plot part....planning and organizing to keep money in their pockets as well as power takes planning and organizing...
and I'm sure it's a freaking bitch to really find out the details of who they are...there in is the secret part..
we've got FBI, SSA, NSA, CIA...etc...that exist and they can be called a secret organizations (which I'm sure they work together on different tasks)
that work globally to keep things the way they want them to be...so why is it soooo hard to believe that there is a class of people above them??
