View Full Version : Are you serious about your life?
phil

I was thinking when i was on the DLR to work this morning, should there be momments when the comedy aspect should be shut down.
I mean, when im with my folks, i act serious 70%. but when im on my own i don't act serious. But what i hate is when people expect me to be on the comedy "lets talk shit/be silly" tip and i don't want to be.
i feel rage sometimes too. but if i do i just go to my room, have a wank and eat chipsticks.

I think the important thing is getting the balance right so you don't get typecast. As for me I take my life seriously but not myself.

wanking with chipsticks on your hands might nip, especially if it is the salt and vinegar ones.

17th April 2003, 13:40
yeah and when u eat you could accidently swallow the fork...see what im saying?

17th April 2003, 13:40
no point - seriousness just breeds disappointment, and if you were that serious the chipsticks wouldn't be as satisfying.

my brain, well i wish i was smarter. still it´s capable of writting distored tracks and gametune´s... rest of it is destroyed by alkohol i think.

cool, get well soon. I'm from R.S.A but have lived in Holland, Wales and San Fran (and Chelmsford!). now stuck in a bit of a quagmire in Dorset U.K. - I develop e-learning systems and environments and am very fond of the open source movement and virtual communities - like this one, the possibilities and the idiosyncrasies involved are very exciting to me.
nice to meet you. :)

phil - dont disrespect red design . they are fucking cool. they do things like fatboy slim so they can do amazing design for people like us for cheap, sometimes even free. they are super talented and committed to music, NOT targets for your bored at work shit.
comments like that piss me off...you dont know what you are talking about.
cristian also said 'self-made' album cover because that's true isnt it? why did you assume that was an insult?
phil
17th April 2003, 15:46
your biased though Emma, arnt you going out with some one who works there? im not a fan of designed stuff, be it red design or whoever, i like homemade stuff like the stuff from jamiaca. but talk of design is futile really as its all personal taste really. although Chris cunningham gets a big bow down for RankZerox.

mux - stop calling me madre. i dont look like a nun, and im not 'mother' of the board either
phil - my boyfriend ed is parter in red design. that might make me biased about their design ability but the facts are that they do mainstream work to support their underground work. your view of aesthetics is your own. just stop insulting cool people you know nothing about.
its days like this i wish we hadnt started this messageboard.

i didnt insult anyone i just think doing artwork for fatboy slim is pretty bogus really. im sure they are "cool dudes" or whatever im not questioning their coolness. all i think on this is do ya own bloody cover... its easy, BTW i love the first super collider cover!!! it was great..so im not being harsh about them. i dont know anything about them.
Lady E
17th April 2003, 16:06

Seriously Phil no self-respecting artist would make their own covers - proper artists have floozies and hanger-ons and veritable entourage of wannabes and general slime all leaching off your tremendous talent, forlornly hoping that they may one day aspire to your greatness. The bigger entourage the more talent you have - honestly Phil, you've got to move with the times if you want people to take you seriously...
You should try and model yourself on my good self or the late great Andy Warhol - pop round and I'll have one of my apprentices do a splash painting for you, some monkey will give you a couple of grand for it - that should be enough to get yourself a decent start and some new material...
Caio for now luvvy

damien,
I saw you in formative fun buying an abbacus, why were you wearing you dads morris dancing outfit?
Later on I walked past Games Workshop, I think you were playing Dungeons and Dragons, but why did you have a Bill Clinton mask on and why did most of your 16 year old friends have no clothes on?

i agree wit emma
philhe gave you the shout out. if he would have said 'phils album cover' you wouldnt have gotten credit for your work.
obviously the comment upset you, i just dont think you understand why you get upset. now, if you want to get technical, i would have asked why he felt the need to 'qoute' self made. thats where i think you found your supposed insult, not the mention of the fact it was you who made it.
as well ya think him mentioning that it was you who made it, triggered whatever insecurities you have about the work or your skills? you did lash out on the corporate vs DIY tip towards erutufons designers.
either case, man, i think you spun off the page and i think ya better jump back on before the book shuts and gets put back on the shelf.

i'm not dating anyone in red design and i think their work is dope. why not do work for the "wankers" so you can afford to do the good stuff later. have to manipulate your options, right.
when is "Warp" going to push your release Phil? you'd think they would do something like that if you were on "Warp", right?
