So I am going to see my parents this weekend for an early birthday celebration for my Dad's 70th. I don't know what to get him and he hasn't said anything he wants. He loves football (Glasgow Celtic), music (classical, opera, classical guitar) and he loves to read (politics, science). Does anyone have a suggestion of a present that would be good. Any new cds or books that have come out that you think fit the criteria?

my dad loves football and history etc so i got him this book for crimbo last year:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Behind-Curtain-Travels-European-Football/dp/0752879456
its all about eastern European football, what happened through communism and its decline, and how that also brought about the decline in the game. bit of politics history travelogue and football, its a good read.

I love guitar too. This is one of my favourites. Some of the best guitar music and these are the best versions I've heard:

Can u pass that onto me too, my dad is actually learning more songs to play (aside from his repertoire of 3) andf that would be a great inspiration for him.
Happy Birthday Sheridan's Dad-Face :)

And this is a typical Puerto Rican music - I normally only get to hear this during the holidays...The singing is actually a kind of rapping - on the spot kind of thing....my dad says it's impossible for anyone to play that well and sing at the same time!!..

That brought tears to my eyes - awesome - this is what I love about going other places and observing musicians just spontaneously playing and so obviously enjoying what they do
