I don't really have a phobia, although I don't like heights much. However my friend Flack has a really strong phobia of clowns, I wouldn't recommend anyone dressed as a clown go near him cos he'll probably smack them.

I would have to go for heights. I'm cool in planes etc etc, but it is when I'm somewhere exposed like the up a huge rickety scaffolding on stilts I get a bit unhappy. It might just be hitting the ground very fast I'm afraid of.

Swimming in the sea and relising your miles out from shore (probably not but it seems like that with nothing much underneath you but fish and darkness).
I don't have any off-the-wall ones.
I am allergic to Emo Phillips though, it's horrible.

i saw a boy (white) eat a whole handful of daddy long legs once.
This is precisely the reason i dispute people when they say that daddy longlegs (craneflies) are poisonous as the boy didn't die from eating them which was a shame as a couple of years later he beat me up for wearing makeup to school.

@ Basic - I can relate to the sea thing. I swam out to the buoy off brighton beach one time, a bit pissed and stoned. On the way back realised that the tide was going out and had really helped on the way out... Suddenly I got really panicky and felt sure I wouldn't make it back. Horrible

Absolutely. I get that panicky breathing thing goin' on as well which really doesn't help matters. I'm not the strongest of swimmers either. However, it freaks me out thinking about it. I also have a thing about being trapped under floating logs as well as you can't really get out from under them and before you know it you are pretty dead indeed.

It isn't uncommon. Mostly all of us react to the moon. Let's face it - it controls the tides, so what does it do to the liquid contained in our bodies?

Yeah, I guess. Most of the things here are mild fears or dislikes. I did have a phobia of lifts, but I over came that. However, it was uncontrollable for so long - I don't actually remember how I overcame it. I used to really think I was going to die any time I went near one, and would insist on taking the stairs or on the occassion I thought I would be OK I would bolt out just before the doors closed. It was a pain the arse visiting my aunt in the high rises though.

i've got a phobia of blood circeling through transparent hoses or pipes - actually everywhere where you can see it moving.
i'm also scared of blood removal at the doctors which is a bit weird cos i have no problem at all with getting an injection. it's just the fear of seeing the blood streaming into the squirt.
i have no problems seeing blood though. lakes of it if it makes you happy.
i think i'm also a bit afraid of heights, but it's not really a phobia, more lke a respectful relation.

although i have never been in this situation, i think i would be also phobic of people who stick condoms up peoples arses while they were passed out.
i also used to find people with beards uncomfotable in my childhood, (a bit like masks)but after growing my own (after seeing grunders most wonderful beard) i have overcome that. (but i no longer have a beard)

Oh yeah, it seems that someone is scared of spiders, silly me. But I've developed a new one after my bosses party last weekend cuz it happened to me. it is, caught in a room where 90% of the people there are doing dance routines to a Steps cd and encouraging us sane people to join in. I had to go outside and re-assert my masculinity by drinking by a fire that had been built. I still shudder when I think of such a horrendous ordeal, ergh.

Basic 2: The Revenge

Most phobias are formed (as well as most things in life) in your early formative years. If something as inanimate as a coathanger frightens you it is because something similar happened when you were too young to reason and has left an etch on your memory which acts as a trigger for this all-consuming, irrational fear. You may need to try hypnotic regression, but if it ain't that bad (as mentioned earlier) it ain't a phobia. It is more something that you dislike, like Esther Rantzen or standing on dog shit.

i used to have a fear of snakes caused by having a dream where u think youve woken up, but you havent of that scene out of indiana jones with all the snakes on the floor in my room when i was a kid. i overcame this dramtically cos i was really shit scared, couldnt even watch them on tv, never mind touch them. my friend who does zoology at uni took me to see the snakes and after a while i got used to them and ended up having a python round my neck for about half an hour and didnt want her to take it back. they are so relaxing to hold and if im stressed out we just get a couple of snakes and sit with them for a bit! cured!

Snakes are really nice to eat, they have snake restaurants across SE Asia, the snakes are in tanks at the front, I have eaten it many times. My uncle had a 12 course snake banquet in Thailand, the finale was a toast where they brought a live snake for each person, slit it open and removed the gall bladder and still beating heart, then you had to swallow the gall bladder, put the heart in a shot of rice spirit and drink it while still beating - my uncle is very adventurous with food but said he only drank it because they would have lost face if he didn't and it was a business dinner. yeah phones are a big one for me even though i work in a phone room selling crap. it's ok for me to talk to strangers but talking to people i know is very difficult. maybe it's because i hate having to entertain people with small talk so they get the impression i don't like them or something. this leads to me feeling i've done something wrong which is bollox so i get all defensive and my phone buddy thinks i'm having a go at them when all i want is to find out where and when. phones disturb me. they're just not right
