I think you misunderstand the term townies, there's actually surprsingly few townies in London. This is due to the Lahndahn Tahn 'idiot tax' thus reducing the likelihood of your average towny actually being able to survive here...
He needs to aspire to being a 'geezer', a geezer can afford, through various ducking, diving and 'schemes' to live in London...

We'd just like to add that there are most definitely no townies in Morley or more specifically the Orbit. Now Leeds city centre is a very different matter altogether....
And yes invisible planet you were indeed noticable by your abscence but you know what they say about abscence...

well yes - i guess so. it would be nice if respected UK techno clubs like the Orbit thought he was worth booking...it would ALWAYS be cool for him to play in his home country! i dont know how it is that german dance floors - who lets face it regularly listen to exactly the kind of line up the Orbit has on for these three weeks - listen to Cristian DJ week after week and have done so for almost 10 years, and yet in the UK he's too weird to book.
ill never understand it, but its just a rant and actually, as he's trying not to DJ too much again in the future, a pretty pointless one at that. no disrespect to 048. its hard running clubs.

i know this is a stab in the dark, but what are the chances of Cristian playing some of his records at Dukes or Zeus Nightclub in Chelmford. If he would i would round up a gang of people and we would all dance, i promise. i swear.

I saw cris at the orbit in 1994. He played with aphex twin and errr oops can't remember the others. I went with Dan Keeling (remember him Emma? He's an A&R man now - he signed Coldplay so he does what the fuck he wants, alright for some eh?). I still see Dan sometimes - seeing him more now I'm up in London a quite a bit.

First of all, who's your A&R
A mountain climber who plays an electric guitar
But he don't know the meaning of dope
When he's lookin for a suit and tie rap
that's cleaner than a bar of soap
And I'm the dirtiest thing in sight
Matter of fact bring out the girls and let's have a mud fight

he's not too blooming weird....
...look - i'm fed up of hearing my german and austrian pals saying 'we're off to TRESOR or Neue Heimat or FLEX (all in the same league as the Orbit) and coming back with tales of 'we heard CRISTIAN VOGEL or IBI ALFA dJ, and they were f$% brill!'
fed up of it, I tell u.
fed up :p
I already asked Orbit for Ibi and Cristian!!!

He came down and interviewed cris for jockey slut - blonde haired guy. He was at uni in manchester at the time and used to play at bugged out. I used to go to school with him.
Lady E
16th April 2003, 10:04
oh yes i remember, i dont know if i ever met him...how do you go from techno journalism / djing to A+Ring Coldplay?
he probably did cristian's first ever interview, which was in jockey slut. and on the same topic super_collider did their first ever gig at one of those 'in the city' things in manchester in 1998, and had a chat with one of the bugged out founders...who said to cristian 'we named our club after something you said in an interview in jockey slut' - cris said his music was 'bugged out'. and cris said 'so how come you have never once asked me to play then?' and the bloke said 'you're too weird'
classic.

I don't quite know how he ended up doing that either, just the way city bizznizz goes I guess. He's still cool though, we go for a smoke in his office sometimes and chat shit - take the piss. I guess cos I've known him so long I don't really see the industry mover and shaker bit.

by being an A1 bullshit merchant i imagine...
(don't get offended, this is not necessarily to say that he isn';t a top bloke)
i loathe coldplay. insipid and faux-miserable advert music.

He is a top bloke and an A1 bullshit merchant too. I'm not really into coldplay, but I'm an old friend so there's no bullshit between us. No offense taken - he would admit the same I'm sure (although I think he likes coldplay - fair enough so do many - they don't offend me that much unlike travis).

why does it always rain on me? maybe because you're a cunt who makes shit music.
travis are nice blokes too apparently. still, they deserve flogging for some of their 'lyrics'

I'm sure I had the pleasure of seeing 'the Judges' wife singing along to some trancey doodaa at Cafe Mambo in Ibiza a couple of years ago...
But I was in a bit of a state.
As usual.

well really it all boils down to the statement miss jules gave on german tv a few years ago: "just an album darling" - talking of course about her husband's then upcoming album - the tone of voice with which this sentiment was expressed just drove me mad, finally I came up with the theory that surely, she must be the first horseman of the apocalypse.
i have since spotted 2 other horsemen, in form of mtv uk's pronounciation of the word "ibiza", and to a lesser extent stetson hats.
