I'm down with the garibaldi's, haven't had any in quite some time. My mum used to always make crap jokes about them when I was watching Babylon 5 that got tedious very quickly.

funny you should mention Garibaldi, here is a quote from my essay:

The foremost military figure and popular hero of the age of I talian unification known as the Risorgimento with Cavour and Mazzini he is deemed one of the makers of Modern Italy. Cavour is considered the "brain of unification," Mazzini the "sou," and Garibaldi the "sword." For his battles on behalf of freedom in Latin America, Italy, and later France, he has been dubbed the "Hero of Two Worlds." Born in Nice, when the city was controlled by France, to Domenico Garibaldi and Rosa Raimondi, his family was involved in the coastal trade. A sailor in the Mediterrane an Sea, he was certified a merchant captain in 1832. During a journey to Taganrog in the Black Sea, he was initiated into the Italian national movement by a fellow Ligurian, Giovanni Battista Cuneo. In 1833 he ventured to Marseilles where he met Mazzini and enrolled in his Giovane Italia or Young Italy. Mazzini had a profound impact on Garibaldi, who would always acknowledge this patriot as "the master."

I like those malty tasting biscuits with a waffle pattern that you used to get with coffee. What happened to those?

garibaldi - i guess he is the only historical figure with a biscuit. funny that they should honour an italian this way. you'd think we'd have 'churchills' or something.

u never heard of lincoln? u need to check yourself bitch one
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.payne8/biscuits/media/lincoln.jpg

What is really exciting about the Lincoln is the pattern of dots on the top. Now it appears that the pattern of dots can take two forms, concentric circles as shown on the McVities one here, or a tightly packed pattern a bit like the pattern formed by the ends of pipes which have been stacked up. So what are the dots for? I like to think that they give the Lincoln superior traction affording the eater a great non slip grip. As is their custom, McVities have also tried to emboss the word 'Lincoln' on to the biscuit, which shouldn't be necessary, given the distinctive dots. However, the Lincoln refuses to embossed even by the mighty McVities.

Safeways' plain chocolate digestives...whats so suprising about an Italian military figure getting a biscuit named after him, after we do have Caesarian sections..

dirtyho - you are talking about malted milks, still avaialble, with small cow emboss, nice

chocolate malted milks also rule.

jammy dodgers, rich tea, plain chocolate digestive, scottish shortbread, chocolate chip cookies. all are wonderful...

but its a rare day when i eat biscuits. healthy eating innit.

italian military figures and biscuits...well caesarian is kind of obvious as caeser was famously born that way
i couldnt be arsed to read phil's essay about garibaldi but having just glanced at it there was no explanation of the biscuit naming thing that leaped out

sandwiches are named after the earl of sandwich whenever he invented them and wellington boots...duke of wellington...can think of any others

I don't eat much confectionary either, however I shall be on the prowl for malted milks just for old times sake.

garibaldi - apparently, he and his troops ran out of food, except flour, raisins and water. thus the garibaldi biscuit was born. an army marches on its stomach, and garibaldis army of biscuit-munchers went on to victory. the end.

thats a load of cat poo. To mark Garibaldi's visit to London in 1861, a British biscuit manufacturer created the Garibaldi - a flat, currant biscuit.

My friends locked their gran in her porch and told her they couldn't get it open, but they did come round and give her a bowl of cat munchies and milk through the catflap. I think she found them a bit salty....

..Bourbon creams are my second favorite biscuit Bitch, interestingly enough 30 odd years ago my Uncle went to Italy and brought back an Italian speaking wife..my family and I went round to meet her...she looked a bit perturbed when no one took a biscuit...the poor woman with no English at the time did not realise that "Bonio" was a brand that appealed more to the four legged population of Glasgow than the two legged..
