I recently discovered Crystall VodKa, which is really good shit, Try it if you can find it. I havent been drinking Vodka for years now, I had a very bad trip on absolute a few years back (I kicked down a door, blacked out, real sloppy style), and have hated it since, But this shit is good. Well for now, If i lose a door over the weekend, I will let you guys know:)

Sorry mate, you got it the wrong way round. The proper way to taste and enjoy whisky is to put a drop of water in it, (an ice cube. will suffice) the touch of water, breaks down some of the chemical bonds in the spirit, releasing more flavours. To do it totally properly the water should come from the same source as used to make the whisky. Some professional whisky tasters also advocate smoking tobacco at the same time as tasting - as this too also improves you ability to taste the flavours - but this is a more controversial point...

Single Malts never existed until an Italian Prince, visiting scotland insisted on having a dozen barrels of single malt from a particular distillery sent back to his home - this was inspite of the protestations of his scottish hosts who insisted that the whiskies had to be blended first - but the Prince persisted in having his way and took delivery of the first single malt - prior to that whisky was always blended...

@ischo If you asked for just a drop of water they'd probably have been cool. Its the temperature of the ice cube thats the problem, colder = less taste.

but my usual drink of choice makes me a true scotswoman .....definately a malt whiskey and i either drink it straight or with a drop of water.... if its in a club theres never any good malts so i have a 'cooking' whiskey with ice cos it doesnt really matter with those mingin blended ones, they all taste the same..

also love a white russian but usually only at afterparties/house parties...

yeah an 'irish carbomb'. do they call it that in the uk? that is the stateside name. very good!

I drink beer almost exclusively. but a nice way to start an evening is to get a pint of guiness and a shot of jaeger. take the shot drink half the pint then have another shot and finish the pint. that works to start things off for me.

The question is, do you prefer white Russians made with milk or cream. Some people think that the cream option is clearly the better.

However, in my experience there are two types of drinkers, enthusiasts and alcoholics. also I like the idea of tia maris and kaluha in guiness. I am not big on the guiness and baileys because of the chugging. I am not one to slam my beers.

@emma: I figured as much. the first time I heard the name I kinda of cringed. so I can certainly see why the name is not used in the UK.
