What's the consensus with picking subs? I've never done a full season of fantasy footy so I don't know what the best option is. Will they end up getting used or is it better to just pick the cheapest subs you can find (that will play first team most weeks) and concentrate on the first XI, or should you try and buy some decent subs?

Any tips on keepers? I've gone with James for the moment with Kiely as back-up (he played in a friendly for Ireland recently against Colombia and was outstanding). I like Brad Friedel too though.

Also, I don't know how I've managed to pick a team with no ManU players in it. I like Vidic and Rooney (especially if he's actually going to be playing as a centre forward this season) the rest of the squad seems to rotate too much to be useful though. And I'm not picking Ronaldo because he's a dickhead.

pick as good of a sub as you can afford, or pick weaker ones if you plan on buying higher priced players like torres. they will get used if one or more of your main players does not play. or of course you can swap them in if one of your players is not playing well. keep in mind you will want to make transfers during the season. so your squad will change.

pick any keepers who have high shutout rates. james and cech are good bets. you will notice the points next to each players name, that is how many points they scored last season, so it is a decent way to figure who will perform well for you.

it is best to make your captain a midfield player as well since they are invested in more areas of the game then a goalkeeper or a striker.

spoon - this league is good in that you can make transfers before every gameweek. One transfer can be made between each gameweek deadline without charge. Each additional transfer made in the same gameweek will deduct 4 points from your total at the next deadline. There's also a transfer wild card which is good if you've started disastrously and want to change pretty much the whole squad without being hit with the usual points deduction. Look at the newly promoted teams for subs, they cost less and they sometimes come good like Andy Johnson for Palace a few years back. There are also older pros like Windass at Hull who have premier league experience that make good subs because they will play less of the games. Schwarzer at Fulham might be a better bet than Keily as a second keeper as West Brom have signed carson and he'll probably be first choice.

What's the consensus with picking subs?
I reckon it's best to go with cheap players who play regularly. Ones that grab my eye this season are:
Gk - Thomas Sorensen - 4m (pound for point the best value player going)
Df - Bramble / Turner / Faye Ab / Figueroa - 4.5m (were all top 20 defenders last season)
Mf - Phil Neville / Malbranque / Geovanni - 6m (except Neville who's 5m - all half decent midfielders last season)
Fw - Not many good, cheap ones. I'd go Carlton Cole (7), Peter Crouch (7.5) or Ricardo Fuller (6) depending on budget.

Substitutions happen automatically.
Lets say you have Fernadno Torres on your team and he doesn't play at the weekend. Whoever is your number one sub will be put on your team in replacement as long as that player actually played that weekend. If not then it automatically goes to your number two sub. That is why you list your subs in order of 1-3. You put them in preference you would like them to be placed in your team. You can not adjust your team mid-game. Whatever your team is come the start of the weekend is the way your team will be come the end. Any changes you make will not take effect until the next weeks games.
