alternative sneakers

does anyone know a sneaker brand i can buy that is not produced in a sweatshop etc. (nike, adidas, reebok, fila, puma, new balance, etc.)? condition: the model has to be all black. all those clean clothes pages on the net mention brands i can find in the us or uk, but regarding alternative stuff, the offer here in spain is quite different. and what you find is mostly not really my style. help, my only pair is almost in pieces!

there's a vegetarian shoe co. out there, that offers a wide spectrum of sporty looking shoes that are not produced with any animal products and or sweatshops.............zongkon g told me about it, but i forgot the name, ill ask and get back to ya!:)

try customatix.com . it's a make-it-yourself shoe site. i don't know if they're non-sweat but seeing as they're all kind of one-off things i don't see how they can be slave labor. it's a pretty cool site none-the-less

when it comes to sneakers I only wear skateboard shoes. adio, dc, es, circa. don't know if they are made in sweatshops or not though. but I do remember an old add for duffs I believe where they were saying how each pair of shoes were made with the utmost care to destroy the environment. and they had all these images of deforestaion, oil spills, and cows getting prepped for slaughter.

All the trainers (British for sneakers) I buy are Acupuncture. All made in people and environmentaly friendly places, and vegan friendly.

Plus, as a total bonus, they're really comfy and have a nice bounce in the soul, allowing great dancability.

I was going to suggest Gola trainers - but I don't know about the whole sweatshop issue and how they are produced...

@ Loz - I have one pair of Acupuncture trainers - the Ginger Lion ones with the HUGE A on the front and bright orange laces on the side - they were my baby's when I got them back in '99 - I see what you're saying about the bounce thing, and indeed, they are v.people friendly trainers
