Any cunt on here still skate?

No, but a friend of mine lives near a skate park and I'd like to go and take a look. I would probably bust my ass though.

I used to like the shoes, but design wise they have gotten pretty lame looking.

Ain't done it for time...
So what were your favourite boards?
All about H-Street, New Deal or Plan B for me...
Paddy
2nd July 2008, 19:01
Plan B's were nice, never had one but had a push on one. Last deck I had was Zoo York which was ok, but not very poppy. I'm gettin a new board soon, going for an Enjoi, narrow with healthy concave and loads of pop. Noice.

2nd July 2008, 19:13
I <3 Plan B
Danny Way and Colin McKay were the dons back then...big influences
Paddy
2nd July 2008, 19:23
My favourite skaters are probably Tom Penny and Jerry Hsu, kings of the lazy steez. Check out Hsu in his Enjoi spot -

I can still pull off the odd olly kickflip and blunt backwards up kerbs, but i just get horrifically out of breath whenever i attempt anything.. Steve Caballero was and is still the master for me.. . 'sall about the style.. fuck hawk.. he may be good but he looks like an ostrich when he skates.. all elbows and flailing extremities :)
Paddy

Caballero??!! Showing your age there Jerome!
bracket
2nd July 2008, 19:35
Yeh i like that.. ;)
Tom Penny is quality. Used to see him about Oxford a fair bit. Years back me and my mates used to go skate the ramp out back of SS20, think he was sponsored by Death Box for a while..

Rodney Mullen ftw
Technical trickery would be nowhere without that guy...
The Powell team were pretty slick in their heyday and they made some crackin' films..
Paddy
2nd July 2008, 19:44
Tech trickery does nothing for me tbh. Kickflips, heelflips, BS/FS flips, BS/FS 180's, pressure flips, no-complys, straight up massive ollies off blocks, them's all where it's at. I haven't even mentioned any grinds...
It's all about style, fuck super tech.
Patrick
2nd July 2008, 20:01
Caballero??!! Showing your age there Jerome!
And he was probably skating on a proper narrow kicktail that was so fat it had no flex in it whatsoever.
http://home.comcast.net/~jampet99/images/zicksDeck.jpg
That's where it's at - anybody can pull tricks on those new-fangled bouncy wide decks.:)

I'd consider some of those as 'technical' tricks, maybe i'm getting old...
Mullen invented half those tricks mentioned anyways.
;)
my favourite video is still Plan B : Second Hand Smoke. its got the best soundtrack and its just before the mental technical era of koston / daewon song and the like.
those glory days when a frontside flip over the carlsbad gap was the height of insanity :)
fuck man, that section is just amazing...

Mullen for his innovation.
And I think he has great style as well.
But hands down the most beautiful skater to watch style wise is Tom Penny.
He makes it look so easy.

@mdk: the plan B vids were always great.
good to see that clip with so many classic spots. carlsbad, the gonz gap, hubba hideout.
One of my favorite video parts was Pat Duffy in Plan B's Questionable.

Hahahaa totally, but not the mad tre flip-manual-nose manual-imposible out kinda tech shit. Mullen did invent just about everything and he is amazing, but I went right off watching him a few years ago.
I'd give my right nut to be able to stomp BS flips and kick back tails.

My first board was a Santa Monica Airlines Natas. My favourite was a New Deal Siamese but I can’t find a pic. Haven’t really skated since 2001 when I stupidly broke my foot. I still go for an occasional spin down a hill on my friend’s long board. I loved Danny Sargent’s segment on the 1281 video, I look forward to watching this when I get home
http://thumbnail.search.aolcdn.com/truveo/images/thumbnails/B5/F9/B5F910683669A4.jpgBut Rodney Mullen is the king as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t think many would claim to be fighting the status quo through skating and I’m afraid it is here to stay culturally. Fair enough to hate for noise pollution reasons. I knew a man who was driven demented by skaters constantly making a racket right under his window.
i think thats just the bitterness coming through of someone who tried to skate and was hopeless.
really its just great fun.
