Highly relevant in this time of our civil liberties being breached more and more.

http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/

I enjoyed it as it presents a lot of the 'conspiracies' in a fairly logical manner and doesn't try to shove it all down your throat (although it's far from perfect in that respect).

The sources are at times questionable, and some of the talk surrounding it on various blogs is highly confrontational and full of angry people making halfbaked and ill researched points but I think the movie does achieve it's aim of making you want to question these things more for yourself and put in your own research withotu getting all militant about it (which IMO would be playing right into the hands of those who alledgedly want to oppress us).

For me it has calmed me - I always suspected things weren't right, I always read posts here and elsewhere full of circular arguments which I could agree with partially but always got sidetracked by people getting over-emotional and angry about it to the point of just insulting each other, again causing a divide which plays right into the hands of those we may wish to give a poke in the bum.

This has helped me look at things more objectively and in a more focused manner, as a starting point to understanding, I think it's a good start.

It's not by any means my only exposure to this sort of thinking, and neither is this board, I've read many good books , and talked to many knowledgable people face to face and already had my own limited understanding, but this is definately something which has helped me gather this previous knowledge and start to seek more detailed information on several things.

As I know some of you are well up on a lot of this, I thought it would be interesting to see your thoughts on it.

***Edit****

The last thing I want to do with this is start up more pointless circular debate, so just keep it to the facts and try not to get angry, and If you'd rather discuss it outside the board - just mail me or PM me or something, it's stuff that gets people going alright, but I think it's important with this sort of thing to stay objective and not get bogged down in hate, anger or preprogrammed virtiol, but I really respect some folks dedication to researching things around here, so I'd really be interested to know your thoughts.

Yeah Zeitgeist was quite interesting, there's a similar one about the history of the Federal Reserve called The Money Masters too. There's always an element to this kind of film that inevitably detracts weight from it though. I can't remember if either of these ends with the spiel about the implanted money chip(Which i do believe will happen) and possibly some reference to freemasonry/zionism or one of those words that acual conspiracy nuts cling to. But yeah they were pretty interesting...there's another one about the US Income Tax and how it doesn't actually exist by the producer of Trading Places(Aaron Russo is it?) but some interviews in there are a bit poorly edited, have really bad noddies etc so it's hard tell how seriously to take it.

when I first used internet,

i thought how easy it was going to get

to control people.

Conspiracy or conspiracy not,

two lines lingers in my head.

"You already have what you need to be great"
-unknown-

"Everything is just a gimmick"
-Jimmy Hendrix-

The first part of this documentary bangs on about what a farce religion is. I am not religious but I think a lot of people need a reason to exist, which at the moment science does not achieve. Religion has delivered a lot of wrong doings, but its peoples belief and support from other people with that belief, that gets them through their daily lives.

We all believe in something, whether it is that the world is controlled by the evil reptiles or that George Bush is sponsored by god himself, even if you're a nihilist you choose to believe nothing. We're all as deluded as each other so what gives us the right to slate other peoples belief systems?

Anyway, I did enjoy watching it, and some of the points were really interesting. I just find it hard to believe why you would want such control over people and even if you did, it would take such an effort to achieve. These people are human after all , surely you'd find it hard to get to sleep at night knowing you've contributed to such pain and suffering. That's not to say it's all bullshit.
