hiro - i always like your taste, and i noticed you are a big slowdive fan - you should talk to v. knid esq who is still shoegazing after all these years.
i liked ride + mbv at the time and then got dragged into US hardcore circles...we called slowdive etc 'the scene that celebrates itself' but given that i love miserable melodic noisiness i probably would love slowdive.

Emma- Thanks- and a funny thing- I too dove into the US hardcore sound (might be of a different kind though)- I used to take pictures for a small local SXE zine... I was about 15yrs old... We would drive to Syracuse fr/ Ottawa to hear hardcore bands play (Unbroken/ Undertow/ Sick of it All/ Snapcase etc...) We thought we were all so badass... Amazing passionate music though.... Got a little too hardline for me after a while.

Slowdive is very close to my heart...

I have some friends in Toronto, who will soon break out- Amazing mix of shoegaze and mixed beat... Look out for Off the International Radar soon.

Mark Gardner is playing here on Saturday - Apparently he will be playing mostly Ride songs...

Funny you should mention Beefheart - we have a music mailing list at work, so people can post links to music on their shared drives, this week people have been doing their best to post the most eclectic music in their collection, I think I just managed to send everyone running for their ears clutching their hills, by posting a link to the Captain Beefheart live album Magnetic Hands...

(a couple of the lads at work are a bit anal about production values, their music has to be pristine - and this isn't even well recorded - tape hiss, feedback and mains buzz all over the shop... ha ha ha)

thats just dave's approach to comedy. he likes to use race and race relations as topics. it can get a bit redundant but I think he comes up with fresh ideas to keep you interested.

Was moseying by my record shop at lunch and popped in on the off chance that CD versions of Dungeon Master may have made it there yet, sadly not – however, there was a copy of Super_Collider – Head On – woohoo… Its looks quite severly secondhand, but the CD is intact…

So naturally, I’m listening to this – finally after months of hunting (still looking for the vinyl version)…

Hey if we keep this up maybe we can get the world record for longest running thread in an internet forum…
