To tell you the truth I really can't remember much apart from - The Flumps, Ivor the engine and (much later on) a really fucked up series by John Wyndham called "Chocky",

I think me and Grobelaar have had a discussion about chocky before because no one could remember it, can any of you lot remember it?

FiST
3rd April 2003, 17:59
man i totally remember chocky, fuckin loved it. have never met/spoken to anyone else who remembers it. would love to see it agian, but then it might ruin the fucked up memories i have of it.

do you remember that european porgramme about the boy who couldn't smile/laugh cos some dodgy bloke stole it from him??

grobelaar

heh heh - Chocky - Celebrity kids author like JK Rowling only dream of writing kids fiction as good as John Wyndham...

Hmmm, can't really remember a great deal - I think I've blanked my childhood - which is rather disturbing... certainly can't remember great lists of programs or particularly how old I was... (I spent a long time in Belgium and Germany as well - so probably watched some weird European kids TV too - a lot of the TV used to be in English any way... lots of weird possibly German or Dutch shows and one in particular set in somewhere that wasn't Germany or Holland - somewhere hot and barren and the kids parents were really strict... maybe it was South Africa...

1) Ulysses 31, Chocky, City of Lead & Gold, Doctor Who, that weird kids quiz show where the kids get chased across some grid by some phantom force and Beat the Teacher... that's it... I think I might have spent most of time playing with my Lego :-)

I do remember me and my English friends getting into trouble for spending most of the afternoon playing Pool in some local bar in Belgium, me and my friends were only about 11-12. Our parents had walked past the place a dozen times searching for us, the door was wide open the whole time, they just hadn't looked in, cos it's the last place you expect your kids to be of a summer afternoon...

Battle of the Planets was cool - in fact I'm a big fan of the Japanese 'sweat-shop' cartoons they have a 100 times more style and cool than the latest Pixar shite - that stuff pisses me off

"ooh hoo, look me Steve Jobs and my mates at Sun/SGI/Apple have built the biggest computer ever aren't we good animators" - that's not animations its imitation you bunch of muppets - get a fucking camera and make a film you idiots...

ohhh...tv...

0-5: don't remember
5-10: Smurfs (Schlümpfe), Pumuckel, Smurfs, Pumückel...
10-15: a-team, knight rider (now i hate it), some movies like predator, terminator etc..., and star trek :-), alf
15-20: star trek, daily news, stern tv..., alf
20-actually... daily news, tv total, sometimes al bundy, ...and frühstücksfernsehn
what should i say... i'm working for sony since '97... every day i must watch tv (for entertainment when repairing damn tv/rear projectors), and now, after 2 years in the refurbishment, i hate: viva, viva2, mtv, folk music, most rock music, commercial breaks for cd compilations for 50-90's pop music, crossover (only screaming with guitars)... when you work with tv's every day... the day comes when you hate them...

Indeed I do. Was it not Tim Taylor (no, not producer), and his really bent laugh or something. The bad guy dressed somewhere in between Abba and the Robert Brothers circus and lived in a quality gaff on the end of a cliff somewhere in Eastern Europe.

donnie darko is the only film ive seen for a while where all the people i went with argued about it for an hour afterwards. that has to be a good thing. i thought it was ace, but then i really liked heathers and DD makes that look like Grease.
