picked up this cut yesterday and i'm beginning to get the feeling that track was written as an attempt at making a "hit". well, it fuckin' rules and i think they did a damn good job. sorta strange to see Landstrumm on Music Man. that label has taken so many changes since it's inception.
anyone else pick this one up?

You are right Music Man is an old and face changing label. its a very cool production with NEIL. i like music man very much, damm that i miss some old stuff like genlog and some old trance classics at this cult label.
Secret Cinema and DJ 70 are one of my favorites, but there is much more good stuff on music man.

Has anyone seen the Horrorist Live? I know he played at Neue Heimat once or twice.
I've got all the things to come records, which are pretty good, but haven't heard good things about his live set. Love the paranoid remix he did for Tarrida.

The Boy Who Held His Breath too long is the shit really, such a nicely crafted tune.

I saw The Horrorrist live in Toronto and honestly, wasn't that excited. It was a little too much on the hardcore tip for me - guess I was expecting more industrial/weird techy business. I tend to like the remixes of his tracks best.

ok... but my opinion is, if it didnt say 'Extasy' it wouldnt have been a hit track.. it won popularity by shock...

"The BOY who held his breath too long" is one of the best tracks i ever listened to.

It is really great. Neil´s dark sounds combined with the hypnotic voice of Oliver Chesler generate a spooky desperate frenetic mood.

It definitely rocks!

I don't think so - it wasn't the "ecstasy" phrase by itself, it was the intense tone set throughout the tale, the psychotic voice and a suitably horrormoviesoundtrackish musical backdrop that did it in, the "ecstasy" bit was just the icing on the cake, taking it up one notch right before the chanting of "he fucked her all night" begins...

it waz slightly catchy but not worth the fuss 4 sure
records kinda piss me off when they turn hits for nuthing spectacular
i find them hard to swallow
techno seems to just bore me nowadays, i guess
but then i hear stuff like DM and The Mechanics of distruction and i consider just trying to listen in all the wrong places.
i miss the hit records for a reason, effect 'Like Knights of the jaguar' fuckin musical brilliance at it's best, a record that makes ya proud of techno ( forget it being a crossover hit after a while but i respect that after sony fucked them up, this record was made from the heart ) The last record i heard in this class was funk d'void's Diabla
did i lose out something good recently?

wheezer
5th April 2003, 07:15
I dunno man, coz I did not like diabla and knights of the jaguar doesn't rank that highly in my list anymore either. the latter was first released as the b-side of some odd house label in 97 btw, I found out a couple of weeks ago.

Anywho, the last "hit track" I liked would probably be John Starlight - Blood Angels on Art of Perception, which was at least caned to death by the ole' Väthermeister...

Fuck bolocks says I. Well the Liebing remix maybe but hte Pascal Feos remix was really where it's at. It had the correct vocla manipualtion to go with the bass sections and it created such a nice driving tune.

MUX
5th April 2003, 16:26
John Starlight eh? i probably know the tune then...
we bringing down The schranzmaster in a couple of weeks so i'll ask for that record...

jaguar doesn't rank that highly in my list anymore either
well me niether, but thats' cause it phazed totally passed and was overdone around 800% of what it should have been

ps.I was once told by a certian famous spinner that the sony fuckup thing was all planned, to totally hype the record.. but i never really swallowed...
