Dave McKean is pretty big now - he started off doing comics/graphic novels (whatever u want to call them) and now does lots of commercial stuff too. some of his comix work is absolutely jaw-dropping, my favourite is 'Mr. Punch' which manages to be ultra-simple but still totally compelling. the sort of art that if you flick thru the book don't look too hot, but as soon as you read the thing it's completely mesmerizing.
