i just had this petty near argument with my boss tonight at work
she asked for a brew, as far as i'm concerned a brew is a cup of tea
she wanted coffee but reckons its perfectly fine to say brew when asking for a coffee, she got a cup of tea

she said a brew can be coffee or tea
i think she's off her rocker

also... she's from dundee

Does anyone else mash the tea? (ie brew it, steep it, stew it)

what a fucking idiot. Whether or not brew can be coffee or tea, if it can be both (which it cant) then she should be fucking asking for coffee.

Coffee is brewed. A process of mixing, steeping, soaking, or boiling a solid in water.

However, I wold say that in the UK that ‘a brew’ is slang for a cup of tea. So you’re boss is an arse.

brew means beer here. never in my life have I heard coffee or tea referred to as brew.

going out for a brew/some brews = going to the bar for a beer.

go team Canada!

technically, no, not really, but im sure if you called her it she would be suitably surprised and offended. maybe save that one up for a special occasion

you're right, coffee is not a brew.

does you're boss ask you to do things, you do them, and then she says she asked for the exact opposite? If so, then I think that you work inside an episode of the TV series Scrubs.
