as you might imagine , I've totally nerded out on wireless networking ... and the effort has paid off , as I am now sitting on the platform of the most beautiful train station I know , Estacion de Francia in Barcelona with my powerbook ,using the Universitat de Pompei y Fabra 's wireless broadband WAN !!! - oh joy

Cristian: That's wikked - I'm desperately saving for my powerbook at the moment - and get it fully wi-fi'd up is definitely a big thing on the list...

I wanna get one of those baby 12" powerbooks and digital SLR camera and then think about pissing off to some more exciting part of the planet - maybe I'll pass on the last bit - not really travelled a lot so maybe that's a bit of fantasy... But the wireless grid thing is cool - it'll probably get corrupted by big business in a few years - but enjoy it while you can, I say...

i have a wirless isdn connection at work. its funny to go with a portable computer around the building do some downloads and get some mails, but as i test the maximum behind some walls i lose my access point after ca. 30 meter.

wlan is cool but whireless mouse and keyboard suck. try to use more then one mouse in one flat and u always have the joy that the other mouse takes over controll ;)
data security is another thing but who needs a 100 percent secured network as privat user? i think nobody ;)

Anybody know how to improve the range of reception of an airport card , not base station? - I know the hack to attatch an antenna to a b.station , but was wondering how to increase the range of the card ! - the station wLan is only about 200 m away from my flat ... uurgh! - still , I guess its down to the range of their emmissions heres a couple of links for Wireless users - http://workingwireless.net/wireless/

wireless is cool, i've got an access point attached to my Adsl router in the bedroom so I can plug my laptop into my stereo in the lounge for an immediately extended music collection and my brother can go surfing or check his mail in my lounge when he visits
