What was the best meal you have ever eaten?
Mine was a steak served with asparagus, potatoes and mushrooms in some sauce stuff. It's sounds a simple meal and indeed it was but as i've pigeon holed it as "my best meal ever" it must have been delicious and it was nice.
it was consumed in a restaurant in West Amsterdam with my friends matt, matt and tom.
Ask them if you think that it wasn't a good meal

My mum and dad took me to a resturant once
And i had a braised pigs head on a bed of pomme puree and root vegetables. Luckily, as we suspected, the pig's head wasn't presented whole but rather slices of the head were layered upon each other on top of a bed of delightfully creamy pomme puree and a very rich jus. The portions were substantial, I couldn't finish mine, not through want of trying.
Afterwards, we shared a chocolate soufflé, which is one of the most fantastic chocolate puddings I have had, but also one of the richest. Upon bringing it they whip off the top and pour chocolate sauce in, just in case it wasn't rich enough already.
we must all think how lucky we are to chat about our best meal, shits real in the field..nah mean.

God i'm stiff aswell through excess exercise the other nite. Muscles full to their brim of lactic acid. It's kind of a pleasurable pain though. Does anyone else find the painful feeling of lactic acid pumping through their muscles nice in a kind of masocistic way?

Excellent. When i was in Australia I did a heck of alot of research on cockroaches. I did this as i knew they would be present in large numbers when i got there and i am not particularly a fan of their asthetics. They are fascinating fellas you know. They can survive without their heads for 2 to 3 days when they eventally die of thirst. Also contrary to popular opinion they do not drop their eggs when they are stepped on. They are in fact the oldest living land creatures and because of this are not considered to be true insects. Other very old creatures that arrived on land just after our friends the roaches and indeed probably arrived on land because of the roaches (i.e to eat them) are spiders, scorpions and centipedes. Dragon flies are also very old as are milipedes who in fact probably came 1st after the roaches as like roaches milipedes are also strictly herbivourous. Back in the day these guys were the only land creatures and so therefore they exploited their monopoly by gettin real big. The biggest insect that ever lived occured during this time and came in the shape of a 110cm dragon fly.

The best meal I ever had was a horrendously extravagent banquet for my grandparents wedding anniversary in the China Club resaurant Hong Kong. Too many courses to go into detail, suffice to say it was the highest order of chinese cuisine. The best solo meal I had was at a street stall outside a hotel in Shanghai - quails eggs, squid, shrimps various fresh and pickled vegetables and other stuff in a noodle soup - delicious.

i had a lovely meal on the isle of skye last autumn.
ive had many a wonderful meal in fancy restaurants
but i think it may have been JE:5 who talked before about really simple food cooked after a long walk, when you are camping or staying somewhere rural, when you are really tired but the food is fresh and delicious and you feel so satisfied...that is a brilliant feeling.

No, I think it was me, amazing how good a jar of Ragu, a bit of Broccoli and a can of tuna tastes when you've spent the day walking over five mountains in Scotland.
Weetabix in the morning is good as well, when its that cold that you can actually feel the cold milk sloshing about in your stomach – dunno why it only seems to work with Weetabix – when I’m camping I like to have my Weetabix with Guinness – sets you up for the day nicely…

No, In fact the best meal is the meal you have after a weekend bender when you haven't eaten anything.

My best meal ever has to be a Christmas dinner a few years ago... Amongst the underground techno community in Nottingham there’d been a big dinner organised for Xmas refugees and the dispossessed (as we call them). Everyone chipped in a tenner, and a few people went down to Asda and spent the money on food and booze (mostly food though). A mate of ours called Dave had taken on the mammoth task of cooking the food, or at least commanding the operation. Fortunately for him there was quite a few friends living on the same street, so we were able to utilise three different kitchens and cookers in the other houses to do the cooking. It was funny to see people walking across the street carrying trays of roast potatoes or pans of sprouts and gravy.
It was just brilliant, got there in the morning, one of my mates sat and skinned up the biggest spliff I’ve ever seen while we all mucked in and helped Dave. Everyone was really friendly, all sound-system politics and rivalry bullshit was put away and it was one of the best, best Christmases that I’d ever had (and my first not at my parents). In the end we made a table out of two doors, and it was absolutely piled high with food, Turkey, Gammon, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sausages wrapped in bacon, all the vegetables, freshly made cranberry sauce, bread sauce, cauliflower cheese, there was even a nut-roast and vegetarian gravy for me and my mate (the only two vegetarians). Ironically, Dave had got a big Xmas bonus from work, and during the course of cooking the food had stuck so much charlie up in his nose that he didn’t really fancy eating that much…
After that we sat down for the Christmas Day movie, more drinks and spliffage - I think it may have been Bond. In the evening the guy who skinned up the big bifter, made some hot chocolate with loads of hash in it, and I don’t really remember a great deal after that… ...but neither does anyone else :-)
I've since become enamoured with the whole communal meal thing. I absolutely love cooking and but most of all I love cooking for other people, particularly friends. I can't wait to get a big warehouse flat and have a massive old dining table in it, and just go totally crazy. Already have my 6.5 litre slow cooker and a rice cooker, ready to food the troops...

i think i have a best and worst all in one.
christmas day about 5 years ago i decided it would be a good idea to do a load of acid, so an hour later...smashed i was reminded by my girlfriend that i would do our crimbo dinner, so i marched off to the kitchen to prepare the turkey.
incidentally...this turkey was huge...my friends mum won it in a supermarket trolley dash and gave it to us.
anyway, i`m trying to get the jiblets out and completely freaking out while my girlfriend pisses her sides at me.
this is the worst bit...for a laugh i decided to stand it up as if it were alive and make it dance, big mistake...
i mean, you know it used to be an animal but with it stood up like that and me on acid , it really hit home and i kindof fell apart and just had to go away for a bit.
we got someone else to cook it and while still under the influence we ate it and to be honest it was the nicest thing i ever had...with the spouts and the roasties and gravy...mmmmmm
aren`t i horrible...
incidentally that was the same day i crashed through the patio doors while hiding behind a chair...DOH!!!
ever since that xmas day my, now ex has been vegetarian
i try to be ,but lapse often

best meal i ever had was a giant fillet of marinated organic beef. it was the nicest piece of meat i have ever had. what made it particularly satisfying tho was that all my friends in the restaurant had ordered veggie things, little tiny platefuls of green sticks in soy sauce and the like, and they all watched with envy as i tore into the tender flesh.
