myself - meeting up with a mate tonight for a pint before he dj's in edinburgh and then heading down to a friends house in the borders to celebrate another friends birthday

Tomorrow going by bike to a fleamarket or two.

It's Mrs IWs turn for the gym this morning (she gets there for 7AM), hence my very early start & why I had to pass on a night of entertainment chez Spandex last night. I have never left his house in any state less than crippled.

We ended up going down the pub... popped in on me bike on the way home from work and found Johnny Dickinson (amazing slide guitarist) was stopping over on his way to a gig in Wales. So we stayed there and got totally trashed.. and heard entertaining stories about being on the road with John Renbourn n stuff.. then the landlord decided to show us his new PA and Johnny played for about an hour "to test it" :) He was very pissed but still able to play perfectly. after he'd finished someone persauded me to have a go. I must have been incredibly drunk because I agreed. I couldn't remember any songs and my fingers didn't work. so I played about a third of two or three tunes REALLY BADLY before struggling thru a passable pisshead version of Anji. everyone was completely twatted tho so it didn't seem to matter. Fucking great night and Johnny's in Nottingham again in a couple of weeks and I've got a guitar lesson with him... rraaaaaa :)

I feel shite today mind.

Yesterday I went out drinking after work with my colleagues until the hellishness of Friday night on Broad Street kicked in and I bailed about 8.30 and ended up at the local with a mate till kicking out time.

Today I am off down to London when I've got my shit together because on Sunday morning I'm flying out to Sweden for a week!

Well, this weekend, we basically had a house party, live on internet radio, and had more people listening than were actually at the party (there were 16 of us in total), so it was a success. Got a bit pissed on Friday, got really pissed on Saturday, had a barbecue, and then Sunday playing Inflatable Olympics on a bit of grass in the street. I got drunk again, and managed to get home about midday today.

Pretty good weekend, actually.

Big Chill was fucking lovely. Well, apart from the first night which was toss - Kruder & Dorfmeister playing moron house music, DJ Marky playing moron jungle with some MC singing Dido lyrics over the top, moron house music with moron MCs in every other tent and my wife stomping around shouting "DIE! DIE!" at all the punters in wacky hats. But then after that, Tunng, Go! Team, Chungking, Konono No.1, CYMANDE!!!, Isaac Hayes, Norman Jay, DJ Pasta (from New Orleans playing rude old Rythm'n'Blues) were all absolutely outstanding.

yeah, it is pretty crappy.
the games are on setanta, which is a satellite channel the pub has to pay a bit of money for a month, I think it is like $1000 or something. I go there all the time to watch the premiership and champions league, etc. and they never charge money. only when it is for the euro tourney and the world cup.
pretty shitty considering how many people show up for football in general and get shitfaced on booze. they don't need to charge any extra.

Sunday - Going out on a date. Which to me is weird, cause I've never been on a 'date'. I'm a little nervous about it cause what exactly do people do on 'dates'?....I've usually just gone out w/ guys I already know and we are friends and we just make plans to do stuff... but this is different cause
this guy just saw me moving out of my old apt and I guess decided he should say something before I left (which is wierd cause I looked and smelt horrible!!)
So I decided, what the hell?!?...why not?!...
but now I'm thinking...what the hell are we gonna talk about??..
it's making me think I should cancel....

Friday: went out partying in westerpark with an old and dear girlfiend and her mate who were over for the weekend. Drank too much Jagermeister and shouted at the minimal hipsters.

Saturday: zzzzzz.

Sunday: Went on a first date, drank fruit brandies in a Gin parlour and then discussed black and tan over a Guinness at an irish pub before finishing the evening off with a nice Italian meal in the Spui.

top weekend.

Go Will!

I dj'ed at my mates birthday on fri - good laff

Went to my bosses husbands 80th birthday on sat and got steamboats on champagne cocktails with work folk, was surprisingly really fun even tho I dont really like some of the work people

2nite - drank leffe and watched loads of stuff from uknova (including a good doc on Joe Meek) and now its fist full of dollars and more leffe blonde

Friday went to London Town to see my brother and ended up drinking at Big Chill on Brick Lane.
Saturday went to Rough Trade and bought some tunes then went to Brighton and sat on the beach, drank caught up with some mates and watched the football later. Went back to London on the last train and stayed over with a mate near Victoria, drank some more!
Today travelled back to Birmingham and have been enjoying some Sunday roast and wine.

lovely leffe. What's the Meek doc called? I saw the last 2 mins and was annoyed to have missed it.. did a search on 'meek' on uknova and nothing came up.

UKNova, despite having great content, is a lousy website functionally.. it's like going back in time 5 years.

Went to Clockwork in Islington for the first time last night, Keith Tenniswood and Bass Junkie were playing. Stared a some lasers. Had a few boozes and rounds of table football with Warlock.

Twas a pretty decent night out...

its a great doc, some sad bits with his brothers and cool bits like Joe doing the bass kick for his track by stamping on wooden floorboards.

Watched another good doc from uknova last night after the Joe Meek called 'Smokey Dives'- twas about 50's jazz scene mostly in london - presented by George Melly. Pretty interesting stories about taking speed getting wanked off by prossies and generally acting like what the kids do now. Worth a gander i reckon.
