that is an old trick and so i'm sure that the various chess players would have known what derren brown was doing - not the predicting the amount of remaining pieces tho' - that's that extra layer of innovation & planning that makes him a great entertainer.

Thats a easy one to work out the grand masters are playing each other. Darren brown is just making the move on the new player,the last grand master played on him....... remaining pieces tho ????????

I actually find him quite slimy and intimidating, but utterly brilliant nonetheless.

It's prompted me to read about "pattern inturupts" and the like. Interesting stuff.

If I'd only seen him on TV I wouldn't take any notice, but having sat round a table with him and 4 other people I have to say he is amazing. Was pretty unnerving, a bit like tripping or something.

After a few hours the magic wears off and you start to work out how he did stuff and go 'duh!'... but at the time I was 100% fooled and there are still a couple of things I can't even begin to imagine how he did.. no doubt they are ludicrously simple.
