I "make" my lunch at work most days.
being really that I bring in left-overs from dinner the previous night or heat up some soup.

Four years I spent living in London, probably spend that bluey a day - then I get a job in an office in the middle of shopping centre, where the choices of food are either really over-priced badly made roast meat sandwich, a panini from Starbucks/Caffe Nero, a Subway, really badly made, overpriced sandwich from a mock Italian deli chain called Cafe Giordino or a £2.99 meal deal from Boots where the sarnies are expertly chilled to a fraction of a degree above the water crystalization point.

Consequently, I now bring my dinner in every day and not only is it cheap, but I eat far more healthly too - wish I'd done that in London, I'd have saved a lot more money. People can say what they like about London though, but at least when you spunk a bluey on your dinner you tend to get a decent bit of scran - unlike out in this fucking hell hole of a shopping centre where they couldn't give a toss and still want to charge top dollar.

i make myself a sandwich for work each day (sometimes an omelette if i can be arsed). in total, i'd say my lunch bill for the whole week averages at about 3 quid

i wish i made lunch and brought it in but sadly I really can't be arsed and like going out for lunch

I dont eat lunch, not breakfast nor dinner. After I get home from work, a big fat bifta usually gives me munchies and then I use the phone to obtain food. It just arrives, no cooking no washing up! fantastic!

I make lunch at home and bring it in. about once a week I'll eat out for lunch and get something super nice. but then here, really good sandwiches are about £2.70 at the most and the good thai and malay restaurants are £6.50 for lunch.

so, your one meal of the day costs about 3 times as much as it needs to and by the age of 45 you'll be dead. great!

Geezer spends all day cooking food, though, so he's hardly going to want to cook when he gets in. Do you go home and deliver post round your neighbors? No you do not ! Same as I never go anywhere near a computer when i get home. Oh...............

we have subbed lunch at work... full cooked meal for £3 so I have cornflakes for brekkie and really enjoy sat with workie mates at lunch having a proper meal. My researcher brings in her own brazilian stews and rice and stuff but mainly cos her husband makes it for her - that's the vibe I like.

the company where i work does subbed lunches. but as i'm a contractor, i get nothing. people who earn twice as much as me get a free lunch, while i have to pay for everything. where's the justice, eh?

defo making your own lunch and bringing it in is the way forward. really saves the pennies. i also sometimes like to bring in my breakfast. its so good when you have leftovers from a delicious dinner from the night before and you can take it into work for lunch.

do u prefer making your sandwiches the night before and leave them wrapped up in the frdge? or do u prefer a sandwich made fresh in the morning? I like making it in the morning, myself.

It is best to make the sangers 1st thing in the morning, but the danger of lateness stops me from doing so. I used to heat up my sangers on the hi-lariously named 'Carl Lewis Steamer' but that got manky cos fellow office-ites refuse to clean. Today I am having leftover potato wedges and home-made pasta . . . I cant do bread everyday; gets a bit depressing.

no way will i eat sandwiches made the night before. if i'm going to be late, i just forego the sandwiches and buy my lunch

tomatoes never work overnight, for a start. mayonnaise always goes a bit wrong too

ever asked a blacksmith to bend a curly wurly to fit in a lunch box? or a mason to chisel an easter egg to fit in a thermos flask?

@thembuzz

1. solve the problem by making the whole sandwich and then put the slices of tomato into a different bag and then take each separate item to work and combine when needed.

2. there is no solution to overnight mayo-madness :**()

1. wear matching socks and keep all your spare buttons in a box in a special drawer with your diamante sewing kit. good ideal but who could be bothered.

2. mustard
