MOTIVATION #1:
"'Why are you making such crappy films? You used to do better stuff,' the trashman calls over the fence of our villa as he picks up the trash barrel.
I rub my fingers together to signify cash. He understands and smiles."

yes, Kinski did make some shitty films but he's said in articles that he did it for the money..like a prostitute.

Have you seen Kinski in some Edgar Wallace films?

the edgar wallace flicks are crap from the beginning to the bloody end, all of them. kinski has done loads of crap, but something has to pay the butter on the bread right. he's worked on some italo-western that were quite good.
but herzogs films with kinski are pure genius (the other films he shot are pretty good as well but these are his best). my favourites are 'nosferatu' and 'woyzeck', but 'aguirre' is cool as well. i could wet myself every time on the scene where they throw the horse into the river in the middle of nowhere, the horse rescues itself to the riverbank and than stands there watching the leaving ship.lol
about the genius or madman thing: he was a great actor, very charismatic, and he surely wouldn't be found filed under 'normal' in the lexicon - but i doubt he was as mad as the rumours say. in the end he liked himself being named 'insane' cos this fed his ego.
wasn't it herzog in 'mein liebster feind' that told this story of kinski living in a roof, no furniture, just filled with old leaves and he only walked around naked?
7875 as a fan you gotta see kinski's own film 'paganini' (if you havn't yet). i think i wrote about it a long time ago - this is madness! just fiddling, screaming and fucking.
