View Full Version : Cursor colour on the board
julian

When im composing a post, the cursor is virtually the same colour as the background, which makes it irritating to edit the post (i end up typing where i dont want to etc)
Its been been irritating me for some time, but ive never gotten arround to mentioning it.
I assume its a board thing, in which case, is it affecting others, or is it just me for some reason (in which case, why)
I have the win2k default colour scheme in place.

I wear 3-d glasses when I am on the board so I can see the cursor just fine.

Id assume the issue is that the cursor colour cant be changed, and that the issue is the background.
its a pity that the lighter brown cant be used for the message composition box insted of the darker... but, who knows, that may make it even worse?

i think it's just a stylesheet thing. it could probably be fixed quite quickly.. if we had anyone any good on the case. unfortunately there's just pencilneck.. and he's not clever enough. he couldn't ever figure out how to fix it. ever. I bet a little girl could fix it. but not pencilneck.

If it bothers you so much..
Install greasemonkey.
Change the background value of textarea, .bginput to:
textarea, .bginput {
background: #fff none repeat scroll 0%;
}

27th April 2007, 15:28
I doesn't require a fix. If you want to alter the way the board looks you can do it yourself with greasemonkey, assuming you use Firefox.
Besides it's not up to me to change the way the board looks, it's not my board.

it works too...
I now have a white background in my edit pannel, with normal black cursor.
Whilst it might not be as visually smooth as before its now functional without constant use of the delete button...
thx

Are you using the URL http://no-future.com instead of http://www.no-future.com ?
If so have updated both scripts to work on either. Otherwise you are doing something wrong. Have you got greasemonkey installed?
edit: also updated the border settings to look a bit tidier.

In hindsight I should have really used the new stylish extension for this. It applies the rules directly on page load so no FOUC.
I've rewritten the scripts for stylish and put them up on userstyles.
http://userstyles.org/user/show/2560
you can also find the stylish extension page in the site menu.
it has the added benefit of updating the scripts automatically if they are updated.

penciLneck

it might be greasemonkey. uninstall greasemonkey, then install the stylish extension and new scripts from the link above.
if that doesn't work, use some tippex.

28th April 2007, 14:47
ok. figured your problem out jonny.
you are using the advanced wysiwyg reply/post option. I've changed the userstyle for stylish to reflect this.

what's about the stylish extension? haven't heard about it until now. is it better than greasemonkey?
penciLneck
28th April 2007, 14:58
yes. I'd switch if I were you, if you don't need javascript in your page changes.
Stylish is for css changes. These changes also work much better in stylish, they apply instantly, and you can update easily. I forgot it was out there so used greasemonkey initially as I had it installed.

Any ideas?

you should really be using the stylish extension for this, its much better.
look in this thread for links.
using greasemonkey is a bit like using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, and is really for js more than css.
