Nah, that's the point I'm trying to challenge, you are right dictionary definition of porn says that porn has to be sexual in nature.

But I'm pushing that the only reason the definition exists is because our society has hang ups with sex, its dirty, its nasty and should be hidden behind closed doors and no one should talk about it - certainly not to your children - and therein lies the folly.

I believe Pornography places values on sexuality which are inherently constrained and formulaic. I believe it programs young men to find a stereotypical character sexy,a nd I believe it restricts women to attempt to conform to those stereotypes.


As for the attitude of society towards porn, "the relationship between a society and its images is mutual: as the visual arts reflect the values, they also shape them." Society allows porn to exists, it's members create and purchase porn, and society creates the demand for particular types of porn, and consumes it willingly.

I think that is good you were honest with him. I truly don't believe children should be lied to. I guess that is because I was scarred when I found out my parents lied to me about santa claus. I was so pissed at them!

Yeah, but all parents have to lie to their kids about Santa - the retail industry demands it...

I remember a few months back round at a mates house with their kids, talking about how costs of flights to Finland cost so much during Xmas because everyone wants to go to Lappland to see Santa and then realising how close I may have come to inadvertently spilling the beans - dangerous, change subject quickly...
