haha, I used to wath this religiously from around-to 90-93. That was when I took hallucinagenics about four/five times a week. It was so bad, but spawned one of my fave insults of the time. "Your girlfriend is so ugly, she couldn't even get a walk-on part in prisoner"

Aside from that I enjoy mtv cribs, andy richter controls the universe, malcolm in the middle, space ghost coast 2 coast, late night with conan o'brian and of course... cheaters lol

yeah i watch tons of movies too...if i switch my tv (10" or 11"size) on i mostly watch arte on tv...the only bearable channel on german tv...or those chicks after 12...

Twin Peaks, Simpsons, X-files (when it was good), Sopranos,

there's two german tv shows up here, "der alte" and "unser charly ist der beste" lol

anyway, hasn't anybody else here figured out that you can hook up your tv to your gfx card via s-vhs and then watch all those nice divx's on a proper sized screen?

I wish I had arte though... I could get it, but then I'd have to get digital television, and I'm not interested in that bullshit...

I watch 24. one of the best written shows to come around in many many years. top pick.

I don't watch too much tv. but when I do it usually centers around only a few channels. usually comedy central to watch 'chapelles show' 'daily show' 'insomniac' and some south park.
my new top show is called monster garage and it is on discovery channel. that show is seriously interesting. if you can find it check it out.
I also enjoy the sunday night sex show which is a canadian show where people call in and ask this lady for sexual advice. it is really interesting and I have learned quite a lot about sex. so much so that I may just go out and try it sometime... ;)

But I never seem to miss the soaps ??

Anyone check Corrie-orrie last night ?? Bloody marvellous !

24 sucks, it so boring - totally novelty TV covering a piss-poor story - they even admit in the making of that its made up as they go along. But the US seems to be in the grip of this new wave of avante garde editting gimmicks... (I haven't seen Boomtown yet - but it seems more promising - like a TV version of the gospels, same story - different view points)

The truth is, it wouldn't matter if the time in 24 was spread over 24 hours or 24 months it would be the same... Such a lame idea.

But what really bugs me is doing the second series - when are they going to learn to leave it... instead of the marketing and sale department flogging every franchise until it is totally and utterly dead in the water.

I use the BBC recent adaptation of Ivanhoe as a good example, 12 1 hour episodes - utterly brilliant - no Ivanhoe II, Ivanhoe Rides Again, Ivanhoe the Revenge - its over its finished, why can't they do that on US TV. By contrast, the worst offender is X-Files, does anyone actually know what this program is about now - its makes absolutely and completely no sense to anyone who hasn't watched every single bloody miniscule moment of it....

Yeah, I've been watching this sporadically too - the first episode was total class though - when that guy gets told that all those beautiful women that have been flirting with him are married to Proffessional footballers, is only beaten by the bit where the American girl breaks down and begs him for sex, only for the other guy in the wheel chair to come out of the bog... :)

I love the scenes when they are in Nash's stupid yellow Mustang sports car - it so obviously being towed by a truck, with a camera that moves up and down and backwards and forward in a motion that you can just almost pick out the pattern.

The way the car moves its more like a fucking motorboat - makes me laugh, cos the streets of San Fransisco must have holes in them the size of the Mersey tunnel. iIs like watching a computer game - I love it... but I love cop shows - I wanna make a computer game called Cop Show... You have to do four cases, each time choosing one of four detectives - you get to pick from Charlie Bronson, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme/Steven Seagal and Jackie Chan/Jet Li/Sammo (I figured all these guys would be dead cheap to license...) ...any way I'm getting carried away again

CSI (not the Miami one...) is one of my fave's at the moment - other than it being a decent tv show, it's partly fueled by the fact I quite fance Gary Dourdon (Warrick - ooooohhhhh....)

The Shield - can't really say much about that othen than it's excellent...

24 totally passed me by - one of my mates, and my sister totally loves it, but it failed to capture me

Prisoner Cell Block H: That really DID rock

Jesus Man - I remember that... it was fucked-up!
The Mother was this craggy sounding bitch, and the whole family were totally backwards in there thinking... I remember one episode, I think it was either a hen-night or one of the daughters birthdays - anyway, the mother hired a "negro stripper, because it would be different to watch" or some stupid bollox like that....

The unfortunate thing was, if I recall correctly they lived in quite a nice house with excellent landscaping?

BTW - I used to LOVE watching Twin Peaks, but does ANYONE remember the show that used to come on before it at about 20:30, on a Tuesday night on BBC2 - It was called "Chalkface" - and it was set in a terrible secondary school - the central teacher was a bit like Ken Barlow off Corrie....

And another one - "Glam Rock Detectives" - this really shit comedy that used to come on just before the X-Files on BBC2, on a Thursday night...anyone remember????

Power to the people who punish bad television!

JE:5 - i hear you, but i think saying 'there is no such thing as quality tv' is really ignorant. there has quite clearly been much that is enlightening, educational, informative, beautiful, funny, innovative, consciousness raising, challenging on television since it began and there will continue to be so. i could name literally HUNDREDS of worthwhile programmes. not all the voices that speak on tv are the same...

and to add a small. totally inane and banal tv fact, not detroying the above statement, but certainly not doing it any favours: norm from cheers (george wendt) was a big american hardcore fan, and particularly liked the band anastasia screamed, who i used to see a lot in the early 90s.

Ooo I dunno, Jez Quigley was a scary dude I reckon. Reminds me of a few 'types' I used to sort of know from Salford, and I'm glad I don't know them now !

Alan Bradley was nowt really.... my claim to fame was being erm, sort of near, the area on Blackpool prom, when he decided to take on a tram ....

Corrie is great though. Sort of went thru a bit of a shitty 'nowt really happening' sort of stage until Mr Hillman arrived in his lovely suit and tie (at any time of the day - class) combo.

I totally agree with him. Brookie gets on my tits big time. Especially now its been moved to a 15 hour special (whatever) on a Saturday.

The last time I saw it, was when the whole feature long episode focussed on Ron Dixon, Bev and her little twat of a son.

It was just loud, screaming, shouting and fighting, true full on scouser style all afternoon. I mean, I get enough of that in real life, I don't wanna watch it on tv !!! ;-)

Not the best way to come down after a heavy sesh like ...

I can feel my shackles rising just thinking about it

Aaah Emmerdale, little rabbits and lambs bounding about in a field...

I feel better again.

old skool, technically the show that has it all will always be the a-team. for the record.

The A Team were ace I agree. Apart from Murdock who did my swede in.

Now if the A Team suddenly appeared in Emmerdale.

Now that's an explosive combination.

how can you dislike murdock (I presume "did my swede in" is uk slang for this) ...? it was the chemistry between murdock and b.a. that always caused the greatest highlights in that show...

the A-team could make full use of all the barns and machinery around to rustle up some uber vehicle and im sure seth's facial hair could be put to amusing use in the plot-line.

have you seen the a team with boy george in?

i think that they should let the soap charachters spill over into other soaps alot more. You know for example ...dot cotton goes to visit her long lost daughter in, i dunno, liverpool or something, and her daughter turns out to be a character from brookside so dot switches soaps for a while.
Hell this is shit I don't even watch television...why i am i even here talking about this. Lets discuss something else...i've spent an awful lot of time recently recording the antiques roadshow and then turning it into mp3's. God i hate it. I hate it so much. It was the last of the present series this sunday just gone and when it finished i danced and danced. I did the same thing recently with the crufts dog show. That was just as bad. They talk some ballox on there. Some real arse. And it it's all about damn dogs. Talking, with authority, about how the dogs must feel and the emotions they must be going through. I mean they're fukin dogs! PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DYING! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!

i do like dogs and i've seen best in show but the real thing makes it look tame. i've recently ordered 3 john wilson fishing videos from amazon. Chubb, tope and roach turned up this afternoon. I wonder what i'm doin ce soir. i really hate it.

That did happen for the first time a while ago. A lad (a knobhead lad by the way) left Brookside to live in Chester, and then turned up in Hollyoaks (which is based in Chester).

I think it was a case of it happened because Phil Redmond produces them both .... but anywayz ....

I knew a korean girl in school whose middle name was bich. pronounced the same as bitch.

and I knew a boy in grade school who was vietnamese and his first name was phuc. but the u was a long u so it wasn't pronounced fuck. untill the one day we had a substitute and he told the teacher that his name was fuck. hilarity ensued.

I think that crufts is quite funny actually - expecially with those really pathetic looking poodles, and dogs like that - just what is the deal with shaving off their fur in the most ugliest of fashions?.... all poodles should look like Den & Angies from Eastenders - I think it was called "Rolley" - right?

Crossover soaps - They should bring Nigel back to Eastenders, and tell him that his wife Debbie faked her death, and she is living in another part of London called Charnam - he should travel to Charnam, to go get her, and see that she is living a double life as a woman called Cat, who has a new child called Davey, and wears really duff clothes..... see where I'm going with this one people?....

Richard Hillman - Yeah, it was a bit of an anti-climax with him - there was something oddly charming about him though - don't ask, I tend to have fucked-up taste.....
