Anyone want to share some tricks/ techniques for making great bass?
i really like the sound Andy C gets with his type of Drum n Bass. i know hes useing sampled bass - prob from distorted analogue/or nord lead then hi pass filters in an EMU sampler.
I'm trying to finese my bass technique so any ideas would be great.

my tip is using more than one bass to enhance the basssound.
a simple sinewavebass for the (very) deep frequencies and a second one for the mainsound for example.
maybe a third one for some special nuances when filter is open(rest of the mid to low frequencies killed).
for transforming da bass into a giant worm rollin over ya i would say filta(hi or low pass) and additional work with the eq.
both methods together can make some severe damage.

Yeah at the moment I'm working this tune with two analogues for the bass
Waldorf Pulse
& EX800 (just finished mod for filter on this, next to add CV control)
gonna sample combined result and do some hi-pass filter sweeps combining+subsituting with the synths own low-Pass filters.
also gonna add some pitch modulation with aftertouch for breakdowns and that.
I think I'm gonna have to get an EMU Sampler for that nice rich sound they have plus the synthesis options on them are very cool.
At the moment I use an A3000 which i have found to be up to par for what i do - up till now!

emu´s have really cool filters(maybe the best for samplers). the output is not that loud as it could be but it´s ok. akai has more power in the outputs btw.

I am not a seasoned producer so I don't know a lot of
techniques, but I have heard that if you want to get
that really low bass like the one used in hip hop just
compress the shit out of it. I have heard that producers
take a bass wave and run it through a compressor a couple
of times and it gives it that ripple effect.
