Yeah, he seems to have two distinct personalities. I used to thoroughly despise him, but I'd never really seen him on anythng except on snippets of that big brother shit or on his own show on C4. He gets on my nerves on those raucous audience participation type things. But I've listened to his radio show since then and it's a much more restrained version. The humour comes through without the annoying persona. And I saw him presenting one of those South Bank awards last night and he was very funny and not so ott as usual. I've actually started to like him. The swine.

I think the thing is - and I've ranted about this here before - that he is a naturally funny bloke, quick on his feet and great at interacting with people.... but that doesn't mean he can write material. In fact a lot of people who are the funniest in person aren't that good at structuring material precisely because they're so quick / easily bored / lack focus... So when Brand is working on the hoof as on the radio or interviewing people he's very good, but the more chance he gets to showboat and do material he's prepared earlier the more annoying he gets.

The only things I know about it is that Blobby Jade was a touch racist and that The Faceman, aka Dirk Benedict was in, that's it. i guess the racism and controversy has only served to push the ratings up, resulting in yet another series of this insipid tripe to hit our screens come summer, no doubt followed by another celeb outing early next year.

bring back pre BB channel four, please.

I didn't/don't/won't watch the program, but following in the fine interweb tradition of commenting on things I know fuck all about, I will say that I saw the Jade eviction interview on YouTube and I thought it was really pathetic. Davina was useless. It was like being savaged by a dead sheep. "Ooh, can you see how some people, maybe, y'know, might have thought you were a little, bit, er, y'know, not totally very nice there ?"
Should have got Paxman in.

i should clarify.. i didn't mean she was ignorant towards acceptance of other cultures, i just meant that she's fuckin ignorant...in general..
