N'ah. Gerald Donald is Dopperleffkt (James Stinson wasn't as far as I know) and is alive and well. However, DPX is one half of Duplex from the Clone camp. There has been a few Drexicya rips/tributes/imitations (whatever you want to call them) of late due to the lateness of Stinson. The way I see it a lot of people could see it as an easy sell opportunity - which is a pity - but on the other hand may have just wanted to try their hand at the Drexciyan sound in an "imitation is flattery" type way. As always, I'm speculating but I'd like to think it was produced with honourable intentions. You could say the same for the Frustrated Funk rec, the last Fastgraph (../../) and that $tinkworx record as well.

I prefer just to look at them objectively as they work in the mix for me, non?

well yes, that fastgraph record is certainly inspired by dopplereffekt, but somewho this duplex track sounds like master organism plus some more synths on top...no doubt that it does work in the mix though...
