so I have heard a bit of talk about people making music using their gameboys. and I am assuming that is in reference to the old nintendo gameboys.
I found my old gameboy when I moved back home and I was wondering if anyone can give me more info on how to use it for music.
thanks.

There's a couple sequencing/sound programs available for it. Here's the links to the sites where you can order the cartridges from. I had Nanoloop and it's pretty cool, but it will be grungy sound quality - part of the charm. :-)
The programs themselves are actually quick to write in because the button commands are easy and copy/paste works well.

Here's a great user info page...build a midi cable for it too!

little sound dj is much more versatile. search the webbernet for a guy called "handheld" or "yuppster" he does most of his stuff on a gameboy and it sounds damn awesome.

on a side note...does anyone use those sequencing programs for palm pilots? I haven't seen much info, but it seems like a platform that could be quite powerful since midi data is pretty basic.

i think people just use those little qy70 and qy100 things for portable hand-held sequencers. i think the problem with the palm-pilot stuff is that you have to buy adaptors to output midi and there are limited internal sounds. with the yamaha qy's you get some general midi or xt sound sets plus all the good midi sequencing.
