if i say that i´ve ate tulips in a kitchen, screamed stranges words from a handbibel, had mixed Multivitamine Juice with vat-69 (horrible drink tip i most say), had a friend of mine freebazing some muschroom´s and we all sat in a room watching omen 1... i think all felt like party from time to time, but i bet there was someone watching us from above.

People close to me were brought up with "witchcraft" to use a broader term. I personally don't give a feck as everyone has there beliefs, but I do believe everything is cause and effect and some people just set themselves up for some mental terror. It's deserved in these cases.
I wouldn't advise people to dabble as you never know do you. Trust me, I have seen people get themselves into all sorts of mental states and it ain't good for you. You need to be really assured of your own mind and it's capabilities, let's put it that way.

good advice...
the history of mysticism (lets look at that as that doesn't suggest any form of "BLACK MAGICK") is interesting, going all the way back to ancient sumaria, and the ideologies of the ancient egyptians, to the phonecians, then on to the greeks.
with the continous problem in the middle east, i find it fascinating that the mystical parts of the three main religions of this area all have harmony in their systems, be that the mystical jewish QBL, the islamic sufism, or the christian mystics of old (take thomas aquinas)

Unfortunately human nature has superceded these beliefs and we are down to something more primeval in these instances!

I was fascinated by the occult in my early teenage years...read a lot about all types of supernatural phenomena. then x-files came out and that kind of killed it for me lol
it's not something I consider particularly useful.

not all of humanity, as there are a great number of people who still follow these belief systems,
granted that a lot of humanity have forgotten the knowledge that was once blessed to us.

if you read the old testament, the people who worshiped Yahweh (the old testament GOD) used to use sacrificial animals. It is quite an obvious think to do. There is definately something strong in the act of killing another living entity.
animal sacrifices occur all over the world, in all sorts of belief systems, it is not something unique to the occult.
people still have their weekly sunday roast, which is a modern day equivalent, I believe, like turkey at christmas etc etc.

decadnids - im very interested in gnosticism. i often feel like my life is a cosmic joke. i studied it a bit at university, kafka and blake are famous gnostics right? but if you know any good books on the subject then i would be interested to read them
im also fascinated by the templars / alchemists etc, really enjoyed Foucault's Pendulum, but as with most Eco books im always racing ahead for the plot and not getting allt he deep and meaningful.
finally, have you read "from an occult diary" by august strindberg? i love that book

emma,
http://www.gnosis.org/
thats a great resource on gnosticism. really usful, month, years of information to be read!
my main interest really ,lies with the cathars, who took a lot of influence from the gnostics of old.
the cathars where a sect in mainly situated in the LangueDoc region of france, and north italy. They were the only "christian" sect that the "holy roman empire" decided to have a crusade against.
Eco, Foucault's Pendulum is a great book - if you like that you should read name of the rose, as that is equally interesting.
Blake, a major influence on me, always.
not read "occult diary" - sounds interesting.

basically gnostics believe that the world was created by a demiurge, a kind of demonic creator, acting alone or possibly in collusion with God. the material world we live in is evil and tedious but there is another spiritual realm / world to which gnostics go when they die...they know whilst they are living that they are not of this earth and feel out of place on it...and believe there is another, better place, but cant be sure of that. gnostics are therefore beset with anxiety.
kafka's figuring of the world as full of impenetrable bureaucracy and random acts of disempowerment (the trial, before the law, metamorphosis) marks him out as a gnostic. gnostics also often have a sense of being out of time, like william blake who had no peers and whose work came out of nowhere really
its quite elitist really but i feel it adequately explains the feeling of total detachment from the world i sometimes feel
anyway my explanation is probably rubbish

blame the tools. all ritual magicians from Catholic Priests to Kali-sects use ritual to cause a change in the partakers or the environment.
ritual magic is the art of the manipulation of metaphor in the moment..
manipulation is not necessarily a BAD thing. or out of place.
a musician manipulates the emotive state of the hearer.

the knights templars, although they had many strong holds in the Languedoc region, where not only from there.
as far as I am aware, the templars had no "king", as they were a cast of warrior munks to protect the pilgrims in the holy lands.
some people believe that they worshiped something called Baphomet, a bearded headed figure.
the templars refused to join in with the crusade that was against the Cathars.

In addition to the numerous hymns and sermons he addressed to her, he wrote about 280 sermons on the theme of the Song of Songs, the epithalamion of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, whose versicle 'I am black, but I am beautiful, O ye daughters of Jerusalem' is the recurring refrain of the Black Virgin cult.

the skull stuff about the templars is more speculative, in my opinion.
depending on what sources, you can get a very different view of the templars. a lot of the documents that are in existance are from the inquisition, a lot of these, I feel, are false - the inquisition wanted to destroy the templars, and prolonged torture can make people say anything, or sign anything.

Who Were The Knights Templar?
The Knights Templar were a monastic military order formed at the end of the First Crusade with the mandate of protecting Christian pilgrims on route to the Holy Land. Never before had a group of secular knights banded together and taken the monastic vows. In this sense they were the first of the Warrior Monks. The Templars fought along side King Richard I (Richard The Lion Hearted) and other Crusaders in the battles for the Holy Lands.
From humble beginnings of poverty when the order relied on alms from the traveling pilgrims, the Order would go on to have the backing of the Holy See and the collective European monarchies.
Within two centuries they had become powerful enough to defy all but the Papal throne. Feared as warriors, respected for their charity and sought out for their wealth, there is no doubt that the Templar knights were the key players of the monastic fighting Orders. Due to their vast wealth and surplus of materials the Templars essentially invented banking, as we know it. The church forbade the lending of money for interest, which they called usury. The Templars, being the clever sort they were, changed the manner in which loans were paid and were able to skirt the issue and finance even kings.
They were destroyed, perhaps because of this wealth or fear of their seemingly limitless powers. In either case, the Order met with a rather untimely demise at the hands of the Pope and the King of France in 1307 and by 1314, "The Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon" ceased to exist, at least officially.
Although originally a small group of nine knights, they quickly gained fame largely due to the backing of Bernard of Clairvaux and his "In Praise of the New Knighthood". Bernard at that time was often called the Second Pope and was the chief spokesman of Christendom. He is also the one responsible for helping to draw up the Order's rules of conduct.
In European political circles, they became very powerful and influential. This was because they were immune from any authority save that of the Papal Throne. (Pope Innocent II exempted the Templars from all authority except the Pope.) After the crusades were over, the knights returned to their Chapters throughout Europe and became known as moneylenders to the monarchs. In the process many historians believe they invented the Banking System.
The secret meetings and rituals of the knights would eventually cause their downfall. The King of France, Philip the Fair used these rituals and meetings to his advantage to destroy the knights. The real reason for his crushing the Templars was that he felt threatened by their power and immunity. In 1307, Philip, who desperately needed funds, to support his war against England's Edward I made his move against the Knights Templar.
On October 13th, 1307, King Philip had all the Templars arrested on the grounds of heresy, since this was the only charge that would allow the seizing of their money and assets. The Templars were tortured and as a result, ridiculous confessions were given. These confessions included:
Trampling and spitting on the cross
Homosexuality and Sodomy
Worshipping of the Baphomet
Philip was successful in ridding the Templars of their power and wealth and urged all fellow Christian leaders to do the same thing. On March 19th, 1314 the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay was burned at the stake. De Molay is said to have cursed King Philip and Pope Clement, as he burned, asking both men to join him within a year. Whether he actually uttered the curse or if it is simply an apocryphal tale; what remains as fact is that Clement died only one month later and Philip IV seven months after that.

their book is interesting, but I feel that you should, if you are interested, look into reading some books in the templars, that deal with "historical fact" (as far as history can be fact, its all subjective).
as I found The Holy Blood and Holy Grail too involved with "the mysteries" rather than hardcore quantified facts. :}

BACK TO THE SUBJECT PLEEEAAASE PEOPLE....NOW WHERE WERE WE....
AH YES ...
POODLE DYNAMICS:
Poodle dynamics and other related toy dog topics can be very much linked to the subject of magick and mysticism. It is a little known fact that when a Poodle is purchased the Greek goddess Eris donates a pound and a quarter bottle of “Infamous Welsh Grouse” Irish whisky to a charity of the owner's choice. (except in the case of Alcoholics Anonymous and other alcohol abuse organisations where the whiskey is substituted for a ltd edition 666ml bottle of Kaliber non alcoholic beer - formerly advertised by Billy Connerly of Scotland) This generosity does not occur with any other breeds of dog as the ancient Goddess is clearly very keen to increase the quantity of Poodles by tagging on this kind incentive for prospective canine lovers…It is not known why she has such affection for this particular species but it is thought to have something to do with “the electric light found in a poodles eyes”. There are folk that will tell you that this information is a pack of lies spread about by members of the illuminati but by their own philosophies that state it is forbidden for them to believe anything that they read, it is as valid a theory as any other. However we can ascertain that it is approximately 230% – 250% truer than anything found on television or other forms of mass media. (especially ITV)

I read this book called 'Jesus in India - Jesus' escape from death on the crioss and journey to India' by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian. I have it here...written originally in Urdu, it alleges he made his escape from death on the cross to India, in search of the lost tribes of Israel. Christian, as well as Muslim scriptures, and old medical and historical books including ancient Buddhist records, provide evidence about this journey. jesus is shown to have reached Afghanistan, and to have met the Jews who had settled there after deliverance from the bondage of Nebudchadnezzar. From Afghanistan, Jesus went on to Kashmir, where other Israelite tribes had settled. There he made his home, and there in time, he died; his tomb has been found in Srinagar.

one of the "big secrets" was the fact that when he was initiated into the hermetic order of the golden dawn, one of the "secrets" are the 22 characters of the hebrew alphabet. obviously this is no big secret.
