i ordered my parts from cclcomputers.co.uk, but another firm quoted me £600 to build this. I've saved a fortune!!

I just need to save up for a sound card, and an XP processor (I bought a cheap cpu to tide me over whilst i save up as i'm running on a 200Mb AMD Duron. so anything is faster than that :!

can u musicians recommend a sound card please?
i will be installing some music s/w eg.reason 2.0

a good beginners budget soundcard is the hoontech dsp 24 value edition. excellent sound quality and low latency at a very affordable price, runs rocksolid with my athlon xp system...

I buy all my equipment from CCL Computers. Great prices.

As for a soundcard, recommendations all depend on what you want it for. I personally have a Hercules Game Theatre XP. It's got a cool dark blue and black external rack unit, with enough different audio connectors to make a hi fi blush. Digital in/out, midi in/out, 6.1 stereo out, various generic audio and mic connectors, and ofcourse a headphone socket. And 4 usb ports. No firewire, though, which isn't too much of a problem for me, since I have no firewire devices.

how about a soundblaster audigy2 ? low latency (well well.. just ASIO 1 driver for now - but i think that's sufficient), 6.1 speaker connection, eax2 and a firewire connector. i bought it for 117 €
