is anyone on the board going to this? the line-up looks incredible but i saw that it's sold out. there's going to be one closer to home (LA) but the line-up just doesn't compare to the one in Rye. that mullet boy (and P town homebody) Stephen Malkmus is doing one in NY in september.
GODDAMMIT!!WHY DONT I LIVE IN ENGLAND WHERE
THE MUSIC IS GOOD??

Well Mux one of my party may be dropping out. If he does he said he'll sell his ticket for £100. I was going to ask my brother if he wants to go, but if he doesn't you can have second refusal. Its in a 4-man chalet with 4 men.

Anthony Shakir rocked as well, but Kool Keith was the best hip-hop act i've ever seen. PE were good but Kool Keith was amazing. Sorry we met so briefly graham - bit fucked - you know how it is.

sounds like an awesome time was had by all. what were the chalets like?
dirtyho do you remember shake shakir and claude young at the box in 95?
dirtyho
9th April 2003, 09:38
yeah we talked to shake, he's in a wheel chair with MS now, I wondered why he was sitting down djing. I remember him and Claude wanting red wine and ho's at the end of thet gig ha ha. The chalets were funny (read spartan) - I think we broke ours. Funny time, my mate put his wrist band on his ankle in a bid to annoy the bouncers - a highly successful attempt. It was bloody good - drexiyan stingray was wicked too.

he's got ms? shit man.
i remember him and claude shouting 'fuck the ministry of sound!" all the way through their set and getting royally pissed on cider. then being shocked that we could only pay them £30 each and syaing it was the best gig for ages anyway
dirtyho
9th April 2003, 10:00
Yeah i saw claude in london a few years ago, and he still remembers that gig. Do you remember him getting Nina to introduce him to girls and doing some ass shakin'. Great night, shame about Shake but he's still cool, he seemed really made up that we thought his was the funkiest set we'd seen.
claude is a good friend and a hero when it comes to getting drunk at the bar... once had a gig that didnt go very well ppl wise and he turned into an ace DMC mixing techno show...
remeber this trick where he play the record upside down & crossfader with his foot & mouth and stuff

my best moments were venetian snares, the magic band when the guy started to sing and it all made sense, PBO, graham massey's hat, yasunao tone's effect on my unsuspecting mate, the fall's mosh, and the german guys a few doors down making their own music with drainpipes, kitchen utensils and feral howling

The Fall were real good, can't recall one definitive best moment, but Kool Keith blew me away. Funniest moment was probably me and my mate JC approaching anyone with injuries/plastercasts etc. in lipstick, mascara and silver eye-shadow and demanding that they share their prescription pain-killers with us at 5am Sunday morning. Some very obliging people there - the girl who plastered us with make up was narcoleptic and had a dexedrine script but she wasn't up for sharing. ;(

dirtyho that sounds savage. im glad you are safely back to your normal life now and are not harassing innocent folk for their painkillers. you're not william burroughs you know!

In the UK you can get liquid codeine off a chemist (its a none presciption drug) you have to ask the pharmacist for it, and convince him that you need it ;you just need to know what ailment to have - anyone care to offer any guesses???
Lady E
9th April 2003, 19:42
err cant guess the codeine thing. i like a drop of codeine though, in night nurse etc
hello lucid rhinehead - where you been? nice to see you!
grobelaar

Go to chemist, preferably the late night one that's open for emergencies, have a wracking cough throughout the visit (I mean really heave it up), say that you've had a particularly nasty chest infection for a week, and you can't sleep, because everytime you cough it causes massive pain across your chest and stomach. Persist in this, and he'll give you the liquid codeine, eventually - I've only ever seen my friend's Doctor mate do it, he's a highly trained virologist, you'd think he'd know better, but just seems to use his knowledge to enable him to go out at weekend and take more drugs...
if you do actually have the chest infection its particularly good too, as GPs seem rather relunctant to tell people about it. One of the producers at my work has had a nasty recurring infection and couldn't sleep at night , he was quite pleased when I told him this, and looked significantly better the next day... typically his GP told him nothing about liquid codeine...

alright emma, i've been lurking mostly :-)
by the way everyone, v. snares set from sunday night on john peel tonight aparently...
never mind codeine, you want dextromethorphan - much more fun, and you don't need to convince the chemist either

whovever's at the england ATP please go to the coil tent and look for the abstract keyboard-slinging bloke called O.S.T. and then please buy him a drink and while he's drinking it give him a brutal wedgie. then you can tell him its from his friend kara in san francisco.
