pardon my american ignorance... but what's a chalet?

Lady E
24th February 2003, 14:35
its a swiss cottage, a pretty wooden home, like in "Heidi"
but the ones in UK holiday camps are not real chalets they are more like motel rooms that you get roadside in the US

dirtyho
24th February 2003, 14:36
it's like an apartment, they have them in holiday camps, ski resorts etc.

dirtyho

emma's right the ones n the UK aren't real chalets, it's probably an aspirational usage of the word to make going to skegness or bognor regis seem more exotic (yeah right!)

invisibleplanet

they're made of brick..i imagine they have double glazing...

phil
24th February 2003, 15:21
stay on topic. your not being very helpful. how do you think i feel?

Lady E
24th February 2003, 15:46
like bobby davro?

phil
24th February 2003, 16:12
Right Emma,

I can take take jokes just like anyone, but this feels like a witch hunt. The topic title indicates i was having a very real personal nightmare in regards to a space in my chalet, and comments like " do you feel like Bobby Davro" serve as examples of bizzare rudeness.

In future i would like to see intelligent answers which deal directly with the issue concerned. I hope i am being clear, and in future avoid confrontations like this.

Thank you for listening.

Hello Ladies and Gentleman this is your Captain speaking, we interrupt this thread to inform you that the thread has hi-jacked by inanity, the irrelevant and the downright irreverant. Sorry if this has affected the original discussion topic, we will endevour to resume normal service the moment the bullshit levels have sunk to below our noses... :)
