OH MAN I LUV QUAKE

I used to play that game 30 hours straight, no game ever had me that addicted. I stopped playing because nobody in my circle of friends wanted to play with me anymore =/

I remember downloading screenshots of quake while it was still in development, cursing my slow computer for not allowing me to play the game with open gl, resulting in a gfx card upgrade (voodoo 2 methinks)...and Trent Reznors soundtrack is quite cool too!

the time quake 1 came out my pc was too lame for playing.
so laterz halflife gave me the kick. i guess i played 70% of all HL-singleplayermods.

haha... i was a quake1 player myself once.
even kicked ass with the guy who was ranked nummber 4 at the time in sweden.. played alot with tsr_fredi.
we ruled the Cute ftp with a superb teknik with Flooding the console. so other people couldn´t see the sort secret msg´s.
(this was before 3msg maximum).

but then i notice i was taken the shit to serious. so i stopped for good.

now i play zelda like pille... nes8 baby !

battlefield 1942 (no mods yet i like)
rtcw (incl. several mods)
ut2k3 (incl. deathball mod)

but i'm also open to some hot racing in motocross madness II, moto gp or nfs6...

what cities? ah you mean berlin etc. - hmm that's exactly those maps i don't like that much and which aren't played very often on servers, because it's not as unusual as the big landscape maps with planes, islands etc. which i like better.

i have 2 pcs
a 133 p1 (proxy -used it for 24 h downloading and answering machine)
and my much tooooo slow amd 900 for music making. gotta get a new one damnit. so my amd connects via proxy to the net.

i tried that but somehow it doesn´t work with my dsl connection.
don´t ask me why.
as my proxy pc failed some time i had to connect directly but that windows bastard didn´t want to work properly.

naw, the way I see it, everything after quake is just a waterered-down version of quake with prettier graphics... no other game is as intense as quake, period. well ok, maybe hydrothunder 4 player arcade mode...

well, halo pc is still not released, but it is said to be mainly eyecandy. i like eyecandy! but the new unreal2 for example is too, and not only it makes my framerate drop to 15 at any setting, it's also a bit boring because it's so very linear, wave after wave... i like mp games that offer a bit more options, like rtcw which requires teamwork, different classes of players etc. eyecandy deathmatch is ok in ut2k3 for 1/2 hour but it gets boring very soon.

btw, i could never play a shooter with a gamepad! ;)

well, i still have some probs with the q1 cfg-files. adjustments i make in the menu are not saved, so it seems. mouse input is not accepted in the menu either, when i try to remap an action to mouse1 nothing happens. so i thought no problem, i'll just edit the cfg but the cfgs are all empty.

c s, the best way to kick it is to make your own cfg file, like mine is called pommes.cfg, place it into the id1 folder - then execute it when starting quake by appending "+exec pommes.cfg" as a parameter

writing a config from scratch is a bit too much work for me. i thought i could just modify the existing one like i did many times with other games. but in those it's clear which config is used. q1 forgets everything i adjusted in menu "settings" (i.e. video, key mapping) so obviously doesn't write the config.

the server is up & running, I already tested it with weishaupt, we just need players! address is ba.packts.net , and it is password protected. to connect, go into the console in quake and give in

then enter and on the next line

connect ba.packts.net

you need a quakeworld client as well...

HARDCORE GAMER!

where can i get these shooters from? i remember playing quake 2 years ago and it was cool. i also played halflife which i found even better. oh yes and hexen2 was my absolute favourite! the best athmosphere of them all.

i gave up gaming then and have never installed a game on my pc again but i got me a playstation2 some weeks ago (as dvd player basicly) and i'm running hot on micro machines at the moment. the wintendo version some years ago already rocked but the new one is just ace! so many sick ideas.

yes quake should work just fine on any opengl compatible 3d card, I have a radeon 8500 myself and it's running nicely. the maps are autodownloaded when you connect but they are also online separately:

or then you have some ancient quake installation sitting around - glide was meant for 3dfx cards, and you don't have one installed, do you? have you tried downloading & installing mqwcl in a fresh directory?

here's my cfg file, if your gfx slow down, remove the GL_ commands under the gfx section

how come im just goin through the original quake game as a map? could it be cos i dloaded it off kazza? i couldnt find my original disk, hence the pak files arnt there to put in the id1 directory, but it worked fine last nite with the sofware render ver of quakeworld. what have i done wrong? and whats the command for changing my name again?
