Naturally we want to keep you informed about the latest developments concerning the closing of Tresor Club. Here`s the facts:
Late-Autumn 2002: we received the annual lease extension from the property owner of Tresor Club, but with it also came the notice that the our rental agreement would be terminating on January 25, 2003.
Understandably, our enthusiasm was at a collective low point so we prepared our co-workers and artists to be able to get along without Tresor Club soon. We also informed the press and you as well.
Late-November: While we were busy booking the final parties for January, we got the good news that the dates for the planned development ofthe area involving Potsdamer Platz and Tresor Club was to be delayed! Thus our lease has been extended until May 31, 2003.
So if the date for the planned development of the land should get put back again, our very cooperative landlord stated that we will be able to stay longer. As soon as we get any new information, we will pass it on to you. Until then - cross your fingers!

yes I was clinging to your left leg most of the night, I was wearing my cyberbellbottom suit with integrated blue glowsticks on both shoulders, I had a small mini-grip with hairs Sven Väth had lost over the course of the evening in my right hand and I kept asking you if you could get me into Sven's VIP room...My hair was neon yellow and parted very neatly towards all sides, and I was wearing my dolphin necklace.
So that's the story why I joined erutufon... =)

they did great music in detroit, but hey...as for techno clubs, detroit is and ever was a DEAD city.
btw, why do people still believe that the closing rumours are just a pr-fake? we just had good luck that the club is still open. it's a long story about bankrupt investors, etc, etc. believe what ya want, but I'm slightly tired to hear such a bullshit about us.

häh? which cd cover do you mean? from the HQ release (tresor 197)? it a satellite picture (around 1,5 years-old) and it shows the original tresor building (covered by some coloured squares) and the surrounding area which got already bulldozed. we're about to follow pretty soon.
just a qick info regarding the final closing date: we currently have a deadline for 31st may 2003. if this date will be the definitive end or if we get another short lease extension will be discussed with the property owner mid-march. there's no new venue available at the moment. there are some plans, but they don't seem to be realistic. since the fucking government moved over to berlin, they have destroyed all alternative and cool places and have bulit up boring office buildings everywhere around. this sucks. there won't be something like the original tresor anymore.
sometimes I think it would be better to bring the whole story to an end - techno isn't that kinda cool thing like a couple years ago and the audience at tresor mostly sucks - but on the other side I grew up with that club and feel like at home always when I be there. I can't imagine that the tresor won't exist anymore. what a mighty place that. ok...enough =) see ya at the 12th b-day parties....

if you ask me, this tresor-west thing is never going to happen. the story is that dimitri hegemann was born close to that small village werl. he was on a trip visiting his family etc. and found this odd building in the middle of nowhere. as from what he told me, this building would be a perfect place for a club like tresor, but it doesnt means that the tresor moves to werl, it's more a "tresor II".
however, I really doubt that this project is a good idea. tresor=berlin, not werl. that's it. and as far as I know, dimitri has serious problems to get supported by the city of werl and he's about to stop the project.

yeah I saw some pix from that location, and it did look like a suitable location for some techno stuff...what's the deal with these guys suddenly wanting to start clubs near where they grew up? hell's villa at traunstein comes to mind... and that is really in the middle of nowhere, and the place seems to be running - so never say never, huh?
I would've thought for it to be more of a tresor 2, but I absolutely agree with you - tresor = berlin! otoh tresor is of course a good "brand name" in techno circles, probably one of the best and most recognized worldwide...

and all things must come to an end.
I myself always wanted to go to tresor. it is a sort of dream of mine. I'd like to go to all the techno clubs that have had an impact on the scene in someway. but I guess I will never be able to see tresor. :(

Of course I know that the music is rooted in Detroit. But it seems to me that Tresor maintained that heritage through all the years in its purest form, plus it's the label that influenced my taste in electronic music like no other. It was Hegemann who called all the Detroit guys over to Europe, right? And Tresor has never done big sidesteps to trends like trance, goa, big beat, electroclash et al. It was techno all the years, and it tried to develop the music based on its own innate characteristics, not through ecclectizism. Just as much as the basement never made contributions to the need for a "lounge atmosphere" or cheesy decoration. It's the bunker in its most archetypical form.

I get the feeling that this cultural heritage is not prized highly enough yet by the Berlin Authorities.
I also feel, that a club has so much to offer to the community throughout the daytime also - a space for music lessons and workshops of all kinds....a place to converge the cultural diversity in our cities.

yeah it was hegemann who brought the detroit guys over here___and have a look at the very first tresor release(s) like x-101,eddie fowlkes, jeff mills, blake baxter.......just great to see the label is still taking its way !!!i nearly have every cd release on tresor and there is soo much of great stuff on !!!
and as for the building::::yes, it hasn't changed much there the basement is still dark'n'dirty inside.just upstairs the globus changed a bit___but to be honest i cannot realy remember what it looked like some years ago !?

it wasn't just hegemann that got these detroit guys over though, I think people like Thomas Fehlmann and perhaps to some extent also Hardwax were involved as well, weren't they? There is that legendary story when Fehlmann introduced UR to Kraftwerk and they went out drinking for the night...
