here my current favorites for jan/feb so far. please post yours also.:)

1. telefon tel aviv - immediate action#8 - hefty records
" awsome cuts once again from this great duo out of chi-town, there clicky jazz infused idm is one for the books. they currently are my favorite and have been for some time now. "

2. max de wardener - stops - accidental records
" this record acually came out last year but i picked it up last month, great producer based out of england doing the most inventive clickiture ive ever heard. i mends one of the worlds largest organs and camera clicks and thats it. great production, leaning more toward classical at times, but well worth the listen. deffiently recommended. "

3. antipop consortium - antipop vs mathew shipp - thirsty ear
" teamed back up to release this record with mathew shipps label. it just came out yeaterday but i cant stop listeing to it, great production and classic antipop. but no m.sayid or blaze. but any ways its a jazz influenced to the max hip-hop record. no real clicky shit in this one but worth a preview. "

4. soft pink truth - promo funk - soundslike records
" this is his release from mathew herberts release showing the funky triped out r & b glitch side of matmos, well its just drew from matmos but equaly awsome. he really let loose on this one and this is drews second release as soft pink to date. if you like ' experimental ' r & b and are willing to take a new listen check this one out. "

5. cyne - african elefants - beta bodega
" this one was released last year also, but man is this a hot record, i bought it out of the trust of beta bodega knowing everything they do is great. its straight up hip-hop with broken spoken word esque' vocals with a twist of eastern element intrumentation. the remixs on the flip side are the best considering as you can tell allready im into alot of glitch and clickiture. 09, ph dee, el machetero, and some messed up acocapella's. "

6. t raumschmiere - the great rock ' n ' roll swindle - shitkatapult
" this is for all you techno fans out there, this is my favorite type of techno, analog, bassy, and glitchy at the same time. every time i happen to see him live he rocks the hell out of the crowd and gives the greatest shows. the ep is very much like the performances hes done. less deep, more rough but groovy, glitch stabs and analog breakdowns. highly recomended, considering it came out today. im listening to it now, and i have to say if i had the chance id buy it again. "

7. daedelus - household ep - eastern devolpments
" he has to be one of my fav's right now too. he has made a quick dent on the hip-hip side of things in the past year and just got signed to ' prefuse 73's label ' which is putting out the most forefront stuff today. the ep is very 60's 70's inspired consiting of very broken beats and spanish influenced guitars, game show samples and household sounds. with a great prefuse remix on the end. good for those sunday afternoons, if you like yesterdays new quintet and the whole stonesthrow crew pick this badboy up. "

Yep, liked this one. Gave it a bit of a hammering towards the end of last year. I liked 808 the Bass Queen (lo-fi stereo) way better though. I prefer the more fluent style than the somewhat tedious stop/start style that Akufen has favoured over the last year.

A few that have favoured by moi so far:
Volsoc - Compuphonic Intelligence (World Electric)
Silicon Scally/Bass Junkie - AA2 (Firewire)
Perspects - Third and final transmission (Interdimensional Transmissions)
Comtron - What we sell E.P. (Black Label)
Mr Velcro Fastener - Velcropopvichy (Electrix)
Tipper - Donut (Fuel)
France Copland - NWAs Dopeman (France Copland)
Kronos Device - Damage Control EP (Battle Trax)
Erland Oye - Symptom Of Disease (Source)
Shadow People - Secret Society E.P. (Southern Outpost)
Scape One - Let's Put the Future Behind Us E.P. (Remote Audio)
Strand - Pigeon-toed Orange Peel (Tactile)
Iridite Productions - Better By Design (Iridite)
Max Duley - ARC 6 & 7
Shawn Rudiman - Rubin's Place (Technoir Audio)
Terrace - ? (Eevolute)
- it's the newest release, from about Dec02/Jan03
Theo Parrish - Ugly Edits 2 (Re-Edit)
A Rocket in Dub - 6 (Italic)

OK, some were out last year but some are new - all are getting a damn good spinning!

i don't think akufen is stop start. a couple of his tunes are, and it's unfortunate that most people have discovered him through his album - i thought 'my way' was pretty average - but his best tunes rock like nobody's biznezz with big fat disco basslines.

mind you with my dj style i tend to crossfader-monkey-chop a lot so stop start doesn't bother me, cos the flow comes from the other record.

but these days i don't get out of the bedroom really. so what do i know eh?

i think akufen sounds like a broken radio.. but in a good way...
there is a total genre like this,... that he already erm.. 'dis-obeys?'

when herbert remixes him.. he sounds amazing.. :)

That's why I said "favoured over the last year". I actually quite like Quebec Nightclub and Psychometry (1&2), but they are a pushing a couple of years released now. Yes, "My Way" was shit. As with a lot of things, you can only do so much before becoming redundant.

As I said before Ricardo Villalobos does it for me. I got a mix of his he did on German or Dutch radio (can't remember which) and it is quality. Jeff Samuel is top notch as well.

but the villalobos remix of one of his on tektite is top notch freaky warmup material

I liked the Jeff Samul rec on Emoticon the best. I tend to play Double Yum on Trapez the most when I'm out. Works with a lot of things.

Yeah man!! The Dirty Hospital rec is the business! We had them playing live last weekend. It was there debut live set so it only went on for about 40 mins, but I have it recorded to MD and hope to have it up on the website within the next week or two. I'll let you know.

Re: Akufen - The housier stuff under the name Anna Kaufen (background rec.) is also nice.

I enjoy the choppiness- Although, in My Way it became a little much at times... It is hardly a new thing though-

Coil - Love's Secret Domain (1991) had a very similar sound.

---

I've been in a bit of a musical rut lately... but surrounding myself with comfortable dub sounds- and, separately, searching out lots of trumpet sounds for some reason.

Any recommendations (regarding the trumpet) would be welcomed and appreciated.

Yes, I like the Anna Kaufen tracks too
