This is a wee call for assistance . yeeking and I are entering stage 2 of our Dream Machine Experiment and need some more dreams in our database to work with. We have many but need some more.
If you remember your dreams in the morning, or from the past, or have had any at all ever, it'd be a great thing if you could give them to us for this potentially lovely inter-textual arty science thingy.
you can keep it anonymous (and as mad as you like)
there is a form to submit em here and some info on the project.

thanks ever so indeed

I had a great dream the other week after I spent a nigt getting stoned with a bunch of mates, I dreamt I was in giant bed with two of my female friends and all three of us were dressed in just underwear. However there was absoloutely no sexual context at all (other than the obvious being semi naked in bed with aattrasctive girls).
I interepreted this dream as meaning I need a girlfriend soon.

What if you can't remember your dreams, but still manage to come up with shit during the day that most people wouldn't even dream about dreaming... I think I have a leaky sub-conscious... :)

Thanks for the link bitch one,
- I think the dream machine is gonna be pretty different from the Alice thingy but its good for me to be aware of it.
MYK is having much success in telling the machine to cut dreams up and put them together again in specific ways. Its coming along but there is much to do before it will be viewable/hearable. No too long though before we hae a prototype...the dreams are like the raw matter that the machine processes so we need as a many as we can

wasn´t it w.s. borroughs or spare who came up with the cut up text and put randomely together...?
i´m really curious about the dream machine results...maybe some automatic inspirator for boring hollywood authors.

yes, Bill Burroughs did cut up texts and films and put them together again in different ways. He also made a different type of 'dream machine' with Brian Gysin which consisted of a tube of card with hole cut out spinning around on a turnatable with a 100 watt lightbulb in the middle. You stare at it with eyes closed and are supposed to get some kind of drug-like experience. I tried it once and got a migraine. Apparently Kurt Cobain had one... Anyway, our Dream Machine is a bit inspired by Burroughs (cos he was wonderful) but also by lots of other things like Freud and Dada and automatic poetry and films and other more theorietical things to do with text and art and thought and reading and computer science and stuff. is all very interdisciplinary - all anonymous and disseminated - like the orgy scene in Eyes Wide Shut but with words

i thought it might be easy to adapt the AIML thingy for your purposes...

oh yes there is a very very basic preliminary sketch of a model (see link below) that I did in actionscript about a year ago. i'm not a programmer at all but managed to put together this test. Obviously what MYK is programming is much much better and sophisticated and proper - it will work in real time and be pulling stuff in from all over the place and will hopefully have an audio element aswell as visual and textual. I think my Telegrammatic model works quite well if you read it a while though- its gives an idea...
