Both Northrop and BAE Systems also are adapting devices already used on military aircraft to protect civilian aircraft from shoulder-fired missiles.

What's that? Dumping a load of flares and turning sharply to the left. Lets hope First Class still have their nice expensive dinners on their laps when that happens... :)
