well, that would have been a better idea than turning up en mass on the wrong side of a gorge/cravasse with the only means of access being a shitty rope bridge... maybe they should have looked at a map first....

the Comanche stealth chopper. all the weapons retract inton it's sides btw.
Davenport

yeah that looks good. wish i had one.
Davenport
30th June 2006, 13:22
i waas thinking. Retractable weapons = more margin for error. With the Hind, the guns are all there. Imagine if the servo that opened that door failed. (im not being a sceptic. Look, i understand the rigor that these mechanisms get put through during testing. But nothing is failsafe.
The Hind could use one of those things they have in the junkyard to move cars. Simply fly over, drop it down and leg it. Pull the Apache where you want. Pull it into a mountain BOOYA
Paddy
30th June 2006, 13:25
but the Hind D is big, heavy, slow and ugly. The Apache is the bad boy, fast as fuck, looks the part, and can raze a small village to the ground from a kilometre away.
sorted.

Yeah i know - but speed isn't everything.
If i was top notch Russian Pilot - all things equal i could take out an Apache.
Why do i say this? Well my grandfather developed the guidence system on the
Hind. So, im a little bit biased i suppose.

booooooooring, humans can't even fly them without the aid of a computer, because the aerodynamics are so fucked up, they're completely unstable. so basically they're programmed on a single flight path, everytime they take off.
gimme one of these bad bwoys anyday bruv
http://www.dspchina.net/ProductImage/Eurofighter%202000.JPG
Eurofighter Typhoon.
@Philie, see the big thing on top of the Apaches rotors? thats the radar system (Longbow), basically with that, you and your Hind D would be dead before you even knew i was there.
what a loser i am.

I'd avoid the Eurofighter for the time being - it doesn't work.
Apache UK style - nah, they don't have the parts or the training yet (getting there tho I think).
honest truth - I'd stick with a flight of Tornado GR1 with some fighter backup.
You could take out a city, and leave a sizeable crater just for fun, tried and tested, and mean as fuck - unless you happen to come from some oil rich country that thinks its fun to jolly around with more ordanance than it's safe to land with and then land - hee hee, friendly fire , more like suicide.
did you know that the Royal Saudi Airforce nearly caused more damage during the 1st gulf war than the Iraqi carrier pigeon + cropduster battalion.
pongoid is holding the other rope.

AFAIK.. the computers "fly" them yeah.. but they still have pilots who control them... the computers just keep them stable, because they're not actually stable on their own. If they were completely pre-programmed, what would be the point of putting some mug in the cockpit? :)
