Haven't seen it for years, but we've talked about this before - watched it when I was about 10. Prior to that My Dad who was in the British Army had given me loads of stuff to read about strategical and tactical use of Nuclear weapons - and then he got posted to Sheffield (the film is set in Sheffield) and it was on the TV, so having developed something of unhealthy fascination with Nuclear weapons; I watched it!
Scared the shit out of me - that combined with the Nostradamus prediction that goes "In the eighth month of the year 1999 human civilisation as we know it will be changed forever as the skies burn with fire" meant I didn't get any decent sleep for about a year - probably largely responsible for my twisted fevered imagination.
On a completely aesthetic front - I think Nuclear explosions are beautiful and must surely rate as one of man's most fascinating and yet repulsive discoveries. I say discovery, because it is more of a discovery than an invention - that if you get a certain mass of a certain isotope a chain reaction that unleashes such a massive amount of energy to create one of the most powerful forces in the universe.
Any way enough of my fevered ramblings...
