Yep, Arrythmia's the album I've just got.

I love electronic sounds, I love decent rhymes. I love a lot of stuff on Warp.

I love that album.

Oh and not forgetting you Mr Manuva.

Did that drop already.
Madlib is fresh yo........Straight up that Quasimotto shit is off the motherfucking hinges

pille'ocheoni
8th February 2003, 00:24
madlib is god

MUX
8th February 2003, 01:23
then i need to check out this madlib guy...

dammit aint hiphop so re-freshing? there is always new sounds and new mc's around that it's always interesting.

i am currently listening to the Anti-Icon crew, and its a total borderline between inventing new hiphop sounds and vibe & dissing the actual hiphop element & cliche at the same time. i dont know if it's very helpfull to the genre or distroying it at all costs.

it kinda hard to put in words, so i hope i made a point there..

madlib is somebody to check out. he is also quasimoto yesterdays new quintet, and probally others. check out stones throw records

alex cortex
8th February 2003, 16:41
yep, quasimoto - the unseen. really good. madlib and peanut butter wolf = same person? who can help?

more hiphop and beats i dig:
el-p - little johnny from the hospital (yeah yeah yeah!!!)
el-p - fantastic damage
cannibal ox - the cold vein (though the "oxtrumentals" are way better than with lyrics) [beats are by el-p]
mike ladd - welcome to the afterfuture
dj frane - frane´s fantastic boatride (that´s a nice one)
prince paul - prince among thieves, psychoanalysis
and then some usual suspects: kool keith, stetsasonics...

pille'ocheoni
8th February 2003, 17:17
absoulutely not peanut butter wolf is not! madlib. same record co. differnt people ones white and ones black.

MUX
9th February 2003, 13:36
hmm... el-p - little johnny from the hospital .. any good? dont have this
i got the el-p instrumentals as well

alex cortex
9th February 2003, 13:56
@mux: as far as i know there´s only this instrumental. so it´s this one i rate being so good.

MUX
9th February 2003, 18:00
alex: no, im sure about it . it's FAN DAM PLUS

alex cortex
9th February 2003, 18:08
@mux: sorry, i misunderstood. i thought you were unsure about "little johnny" also having a version with lyrics. anyway, fantastic damage surely is cool with or without lyrics.

MF Doom has a load of things in the works, including the madvillian project with madlib, an album under the name viktor vaughan (apparently gonna be quite drum and bassy) and an album for his crew Monsta Island Czars. i think there might be a king ghidra album in the works for release on big dada as well. all of these are likely to be pretty excellent. also worth checking the MF Grimm album released late last year. most of the production is handled by doom. it's just plain good. also, on a hiphop tip, check out count bass d (www.countbassd.com) for a similar lush and bouncy production style...anything on def jux is good - mr. lif, aesop rock and rjd2 on top of those already mentioned. also, don't sleep on the humble magnificent - EDAN (he's the best!)...

pille'ocheoni
10th February 2003, 00:01
edan is cool i have 3 or four cuts by him. very flashy for me, in a second grade style. he's good though. has any body heard, ill mitch?

MUX
10th February 2003, 00:20
ill mitvh i never heard of myself..
edan i saw at the last dedbeat and he was amazing stuff... i had no idea who he was, all i know was after that i skipped Bogdan, too impressed to leave the room
he's recording have a tendency to sound like grandads's tapedeck.. in such a rude but clever way

MUX
10th February 2003, 00:28
alex- great to hear.. ill keep an eye out for it :)
