I saw a short Doc piece on these on TV a year back or so...they don't really self repair yet...they just re-attach themselves to other blocks...more of a fancy kid's toy at this point I think...no Von Neumann machines quite yet I don't think ;)

It's still close to self repairing. If you think of losing one of the blocks as taking a damage.

Creeepy. They get smarter, faster and stronger. Once they're be able to replicate - we're doomed.
