Is there anyone on this forum from Bristol in the UK? If so can you point me to some cool stuff going on - I am pretty bored at the mo and need to find a new gang.

Emma, is there any plans for any of your artists to come up North to Liverpool, or Manchester ?

We do like good music up here you know :-)

does it have fractals rotating with a textured cube scaling up and down with a low polygon dolphin swiming in and out? saying "Everything you know is wrong"

I certainly hope there was at least one such dolphin involved, otherwise it can hardly be called a electronic music video!

That would be a good idea... just started getting on to music dvd's (after all this time) since I've started playing them through my hifi.

Looking forward to seeing Monsieur Garniers dvd at some frazzled point this weekend ....

debord - yes that was super_collider at the RFH show

old skool - we would love to come up north but someone has to ask us! its also difficult what with cris and jamie not living in the UK.

decadnids - yes i knew you shared a space with novamatic, must have driven you mad...poor lads they worked so hard on that, im so impressed with what they did.

phil - of course its purest dolphin

zoepperman - we would love to release it on DVd but it would be too expensive - tracks in the mix include marvin gaye, wu-tang and frank zappa - we would never be able to afford to license them...

that's a pity! is it possible to get a copy on video?

Ali who started Overload is in Bristol and puts on some really good things - especially a night called Language that has had people like V/VM and Tony Morely.

drop him a line at ali@stayfree.co.uk

Cheers for the prop Paul, it was especially nice coming from someone as sick as you.

debord - Bristol's got some interesting things bubblin' away at present. Jamie and Matt are actually playing at one of our Language do's when they're down here on the 5th. The following week on the 13th we've got Si Begg down for a night of Noodles nonsense, and I think he's bringing Osymyso down from London with him. The Cube's a wicked venue - if you pay the place a visit you'll probably hook up with some interesting stuff. Last Saturday they had Depth Charge rescoring cult kung fu film Buddhist Fist down there. They've got a VJ fest all weekend starting tomorrow.

Well worth checking a venue called The Croft around the corner from the Cube. They have all kinds of stuff going on each week - mainly hip hop, electro and decent breakbeat stuff. The Clean Cut crew had Posthuman from Seed Records down last month which was particularly rocking.

I hear Micheal Forshaw and Mark Hawkins heading down this way next month, which should scare a few people.

Ha ha Hawkins and Forshaw - best get some extra bar staff in for people to hide behind once the full on sonic mayhem kicks in...

Let us know about this Ali, I might be up for a skirmish in Bristol... :-)

Ali

It's on Friday 21st March apparently, although I dunno if it's 100 confirmed. MH, emef - shed any light...?

Grobelaar, if you're crashing here mine's a brandy top.

Damn you Ali ! - Bristol has so much good shit going on. The only exciting thing that's happened in Wokingham this week was a car accident that killed 3 people. The whole town came out to gather on the road and stare at the flames and sniff the burning rubber. I think I may move down to Bristol and then I could see you every day.

e.v.e.r.y...d.a.y.....

Yes they worked V hard on that project, and I think it shows, no small task creating an hour long film piece... as for driving me mad, no madder than I already am ;)

Ali we must stop meeting like this - It's Pete.
I am just agreedy man I guess!
Sorry I missed the Depth Charge - I was on a bit of a mission. We still need to go for that much vaunted beer too.
Thanks for all the help dudes. I reckon I'm going to start a Bristol fanzine to keep me occupied - do you think Jakkz is a good name?

hey ali!
nice to see you...sorry should have put that your night was called language in my original post.
and cut out - wokingham?? what are you doing there? its not surrey is it - is it berkshire?

thanks for the tunes btw. very cool indeed, i liked the tracks a lot. also you were rather ahead of your time with interpol - next big thing it would seem

cut out
7th February 2003, 17:13
yes, unfortunately Wokingham is in Berkshire and I am here with my folks until I have saved up enough money to move out, which should be March... It all came about because I dossed around in London being unemployed and making stupid music for 2 months when I should have been out looking for a job. Now I have a job - and it sucks.

Glad you like the tracks, looks like I will be sharing the next Ugly Funk ep with Crystal Distortion, so only 2 or 3 of them will be used... And yeah, It's a shame that everyone is picking up on Interpol so soon (lets face it, we all like our fave bands to be a secret), but they are good enough to deserve it - I guess it's good that they're getting bigger AFTER everyone has got all moist in the crotch area about New York, cos they're so much more than that. I'm going to see them live the same night as the party Karrie is organising, so that should be a top night. Angst-rock followed by wonky-bop.

Yeah, sorry about the disinformation Matt - must have heard wrong. Anyway, here's some flyers for our next set of Language do's. Perhaps see some of you there...
