Soulseek is currently non user friendly and keeping us all out, no reason why so far but given Nir's level of activity with keeping us up to date I'd say it's probably a minor thing that will get sorted in a day or two.

yeah they're switching providers because they had to shut down. they're looking for new servers in countries far from the arm of the RIAA...

Someone needs to set up the internet equivalent of Radio Caroline - a ship in international waters with a fat load of servers and an almighty connection... Maybe can dive down and splice it into that fat phone line that runs from UK to US - that would be funny... Probably not technically possible but funny...
If anyone knows how this could be acheived in theory I would like to know cos it would be cool idea to put into a story...

how about one of these oil-islands then? some of them must be in international waters. we could enter one, pull up the pirate flag, start the server and set up the cooking plan.
this environment could be cool for making music too - very inspiring.
